She was 83 years old, at the time of her demise. Amid her death, a lot of attention has shifted towards Chris' personal life, including her bond with her former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Garner.
For those who do not know, Jennifer Garner was previously married to Ben Affleck. However, in 2015, they announced their separation, and three years later, in 2018, their divorce was finalized. Despite their divorce, Jennifer maintained a close bond with Chris Anne. They were often spotted spending time together.

Even though Jennifer and Ben parted ways, they still have a cordial bond. Over the years, Jennifer has often been photographed with Chris Anne.They have enjoyed walks together, had coffee together and went on vacations. In 2017, when Ben was with his then-girlfriend, Jennifer and Chris were seen on a walk. Multiple fans called them a mother-daughter duo.
Later, Jennifer also continued to host Thanksgiving along with Ben and Chris. The gathering garnered a lot of attention. Later, actress Jennifer Garner had a conversation with the Entertainment Tonight, during which she opened up about Thanksgiving. She was quoted as saying:
"Ben's mom, Chris, will be in town and she and Ben will take the kids and I'll have crafts set up and I'll have T-Ball, soccer, I'll have anything set up. If they will play with the kids and just let me cook, it is heaven for me. I will make homemade bread, I'll make stuffing, I'll make a turkey, I'll make gravy, I'll make sweet potato pudding, I'll make pies. Just let me have that day in the kitchen."
Apart from this, not many know that Chris Anne was diagnosed with cancer in December 2025. After that she revealed her last wish to see the graduation ceremony of her grandson. Months later, in May 2026, she was able to see the same of her grandson. And two days later, she tragically passed away. A statement from her obituary can be read as:
"Chris Anne's greatest wish after her diagnosis, however, was to live to see her grandson graduate high school. She did so, attending with her family on May 31, 2026. She died peacefully, in her sleep, two days later."
Later, when Ben Affleck went to rehab due to his alcohol addiction, the actor's mother, Chris Anne stayed with his former daughter-in-law, Jennifer and her kids. Apart from this, Ben Affleck has also praised his ex-wife, Jennifer whenever possible, including sharing a heartfelt post for both the actress and Chris on Mother’s Day.

Apart from Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck was also married to much-loved actress Jennifer Lopez.They were together since 2025. It is worth mentioning that like Jennifer Garner, the Office Romance actress also shared a heartfelt bond with Chris Anne. However, the two were rarely seen after the divorce.
Before J.Lo and Ben Affleck’s divorce, the actress often shared glimpses of her relationship with Chris Anne. In 2023, Jennifer shared an Instagram video, with her mother and Ben Affleck’s mother. The family was seen watching the movie named Mother. She captioned the video as, "Watching #TheMother with my beautiful mothers!!! @Delola watch party :wine_glass: @netflix #DelolaLife #MotherIsAlwaysRight."
Talking more about Chris Anne, she passed away on June 2, 2026, due to pancreatic cancer. It is worth noting that the family confirmed her passing weeks after her death. She worked as a teacher. Coming to her personal life, Chris Anne was married to Timothy Affleck. The ex-couple welcomed two sons. However, they parted ways when Ben Affleck was only 12 years old. The main reason behind their separation was Timothy’s alcoholism.
