Former longtime spouses Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have returned to the headlines years after their 2018 divorce. After Affleck sold his AI filmmaking startup, InterPositive, to Netflix earlier this year, the streaming giant has disclosed that it paid the actor USD 587 million in cash.

On the other hand, Jennifer Garner has marked her much-awaited return to acting with Peacock's new TV adaptation, The Five Star Weekend. With both exes continuing to dominate headlines, many are wondering whether Gardner is entitled to any share of Affleck's Netflix deal.

Why Jennifer Garner won't receive any of Ben Affleck's Netflix payout

Netflix recently disclosed the purchase price of their deal in a Form 10-Q filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, revealing that it completed a business acquisition in March for approximately USD 587 million in cash. While the filing did not explicitly name InterPositive, it left little room for doubt, as the company announced its acquisition of Affleck's AI startup on March 5, 2026.

Given Ben Affleck's years of history with Jennifer Garner, many fans are wondering whether the actress gets a share of the Netflix payout. Well, the short answer is no.

When the Oscar-winning actor founded InterPositive in 2022, he had already been divorced from Garner. The former spouses filed for divorce in 2015, and it was finalized in 2018, four years before Affleck came up with his AI startup. Since the company was created well after their marriage ended, it was never considered marital property.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck first met while filming Pearl Harbor in 2000 before reconnecting a few years later. The couple married in 2005 and went on to welcome three children during their decade-long relationship.

In 2015, they announced they were separating and finalized their divorce three years later. Since then, both have indicated that there wasn't a single event that led to the end of their marriage, but rather that they gradually grew apart over time. Affleck has also acknowledged that his struggles with alcohol addiction placed additional strain on their relationship.

Throughout the separation, Garner remained focused on providing stability for their children. She also publicly dismissed speculation that the family's former nanny played any role in the couple's split, clarifying that the speculations were untrue.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner remain close co-parents despite the divorce

While Garner won't benefit financially from the deal, she and Affleck have maintained one of Hollywood's most amicable post-divorce relationships.

The former couple, who share Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel, have frequently praised each other's parenting. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Garner described Affleck as an "incredible co-parent," saying his support has allowed her to take on projects that require time away from home.

The actress also admitted that things have become easier for her, thanks to her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, for stepping up as a parent. She explained that her children can now comfortably stay with their father while she films. In turn, it has given her more flexibility to work. The actress said:

"[The children] can stay with their dad... He's wonderful. He takes care of them. He's a great partner in that way. And that's very freeing."

Garner also paid tribute to Affleck on Father's Day, writing that their children are fortunate "to love and be loved by a great dad."

Speaking about Jennifer Garner's acting career, she has appeared in various popular works across television and cinema, notably The Last Thing He Told Me, The Adam Project, and the upcoming One Attempt with John Cena. The actress will also be seen on Peacock's The Five-Star Weekend, where she plays a grieving cook who gathers her friends for a transformative weekend.

Meanwhile, Affleck earned massive praise for his work in Netflix's The Rip, where he reunited with Matt Damon. He has a lineup of projects ahead, including his upcoming Netflix crime thriller, Animals
