While living in a technologically advanced era, it has become easy for people to pass nasty comments on the lives of others. However, trolling was done, even before when access to the internet was not easily available. Our favourite celebrities are often trolled for anything and everything they do and even for their personal life decisions as it has become easy for the trollers to sit behind the keyboard and spread venom. The actresses are trolled brutally and especially for their love life, and when it comes to their pregnancy, there is no stopping.
They are trolled for being too active in their pregnancy, for their fashion choices, for gaining weight and they are also trolled post-pregnancy for various issues. However, there are a few actresses, who faced trolling for announcing their pregnancy because of one or another reason.
Everything in Indian cricketer, Hardik Pandya’s life has worked fast forward. It was on January 01, 2020, when Hardik had announced the news of his engagement with DJ Waley Babu fame, Natasa Stankovic. Later, during the lockdown 2020, the couple had announced their marriage and the news of Natasa's pregnancy on May 31, 2020. And on July 30, 2020, Hardik and Natasa had welcomed their little prince. Natasa’s pregnancy had irked netizens as they had trolled the couple for being pregnant before the wedding. Some had also done the math and had shared that Natasa was pregnant even before Hardik had proposed to her for the wedding.
It was on February 15, 2021, when Dia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi had decided to be each other's forever partners. After 1.5 months, on April 1, 2021, Dia had taken to her Instagram handle and had shared a cute pregnancy announcement, donning a breezy orange dress and cradling her baby bump with her hands. However, there was one user, who had questioned her timing of pregnancy announcement, and trolling her, had asked her,
"That's so good congrats. But the problem is, she tried to break the stereotypes with woman priest, why couldn't she announce her pregnancy before the marriage? Isn't becoming pregnant after marriage a stereotype we follow? Why can't women get pregnant before marriage?"
Well, she had given a savage reply, sharing that they were getting married even before knowing about their pregnancy.
It was on May 10, 2018, when Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s low-key Anand Karaj wedding pictures had broken the internet and had come as a sweet surprise. It was speculated that the couple was pregnant when they had tied the knot, and on August 24, 2018, Angad and Neha had disclosed that they are pregnant. It was after 6 months of their wedding, Neha and Angad had welcomed a little doll into their lives, whom they have named Mehr Dhupia Bedi.
Well, Neha’s hush-hush wedding had already created a buzz, however, her pregnancy announcement soon after the wedding had invited many trolls. Angad Bedi had admitted to it on the third season of Neha Dhupia’s podcast show, No Filter Neha and had revealed how they had announced it to their parents, “I don’t think that they were really prepared for the fact to hear the news that you were expecting.”
Revealing his parents' reaction, he had said, “I said, “You know what? We are going to have a baby!” Bohot jhaad padi.”
Amrita Arora had gotten married to a businessman, Shakeel Ladak, who is a Muslim on March 4, 2009. They had tied the knot in two rituals. She had a Christian wedding in the morning, followed by a Nikaah in the afternoon. A few months after the wedding, Amrita had announced her first pregnancy, leaving people talking about planning a family in such haste. Amrita was blessed with a baby boy on February 5, 2010, even before completing one year of her wedded life.
After a failed wedding with ace director, Anurag Kashyap, Kalki Koechlin has been dating a classical pianist, Guy Hershberg from Jerusalem, Israel. She had announced her pregnancy on September 29, 2019, and had revealed that she is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Guy. This had not gone down too well with the trollers as they had made nasty comments on her relationship and had even asked, “Where’s the husband?”
Speaking about the trolling with Pinkvilla, Kalki had revealed that her close friends and family members are very supportive of her decision and had said, “Trolling happens even when you are not pregnant...Even if you are not a celebrity and have an opinion, which is all out there, people will have their views and it is okay."
Amy Jackson had surprised everyone on New Year 2019 by announcing her engagement with her long-time boyfriend, George Panayiotou. And two months later, she had surprised everyone by announcing her pregnancy. On March 31, 2019, Amy had announced that she is 15-weeks pregnant with her fiancé. Well, this surely had not gone well with the netizens and people had questioned her for being pregnant before the wedding. Amy Jackson and her fiancé, George Panayiotou had welcomed their cotton ball, Andreas on September 23, 2019, and have been living a happy life with him.
Bollywood actor, Arjun Rampal had ended his 20 years of marriage with his then-wife, Mehr in May 2018 and had announced separation. The two were finally granted divorce in November 2019. Arjun had found love again in South African model, Gabriella Demetriades. It was on April 23, 2019, when Arjun had taken to Instagram handle and had confirmed his relationship with Gabriella and had announced that they are expecting their first child together. Their pregnancy without marriage had offended many people, also because Arjun was not divorced from his then-wife, Mehr till that time. While some had taught the couple a lesson on sharam, some had wondered how long their relationship will work.
Celina Jaitely had married her Dubai-based Austrian boyfriend, Peter Haag, in July 2011. It was on November 14, 2011, that Celina had announced the news of expecting twins with her husband. The lovebirds were blessed with twin boys in 2012. Celina had later in 2017, welcomed another set of twins, Arthur and Shamsher Jaitly Haag on September 10, 2017. But unfortunately, Shamsher couldn’t survive due to a heart condition. Celina’s first pregnancy announcement, four months after her wedding had made netizen troll her brutally.
Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey had tied the knot on September 3, 2010. The couple had announced that they were expecting their first baby soon after their wedding and had become parents, six months after their marriage on 16 March 2011. Although she did not acknowledge the fact that she had gotten pregnant before marriage, but it was too obvious for the world to know that. Ranvir and Konkona are divorced now, but their pregnancy announcement had made people judge and questions them.
Neena Gupta had met West Indies cricket team captain, Vivian Richards, who was already a married man and had fallen madly in love with him. Despite knowing that they don't have a future together, she had given birth to their daughter, who she had named, Masaba Gupta. While Vivian chose to remain married to his first wife, Neena decided to raise her daughter, Masaba as a single parent. It was in the year 2008 when Neena had married a Delhi-based Chartered Accountant, Vivek Mehra and had started her beautiful married life. However, before that, Neena was trolled for having a child out of wedlock.
In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, Neena had talked about her regret of having a child out of wedlock. She had said, "I would not have a child outside marriage. Every child needs both parents. I was always honest with Masaba, so it did not affect our relationship, but I know she suffered."
In this bizarre technological world, while it has become easy for the trollers to spill venom, we feel our celebrities too have become thick-skinned and totally know how to shut them all. After all, it is their choice and personal life on how and when they wish to start the new journey of their lives!
