Undoubtedly, Bollywood has a wealth of talent and cinema is integrated with a whole bunch of well-accomplished and talented people. And despite being on the top in the industry, many actresses fell in love with already married or divorced men. It surprised many as they could have easily found rich eligible bachelors, but instead, they broke many hearts and became second wives.
And therefore, it is said that love defies all logic and there is no rule in love. And maybe these second marriages of celebrities have surprised many of their fans, the fact that they are successful today is assuring that it is okay to fall in love again and give marriage a second chance! Here’s a list of Bollywood divas, who decided to marry and become someone’s second wife.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan are undeniably the royal couple of Bollywood. Before Kareena, the 21-year-old suave Nawab of Pataudi was married to a 33-year-old, Amrita Singh. Saif and Amrita went against his parent’s wishes and tied the knot, but 13 years and 2 kids later, they parted their ways. While shooting for the film, Tashan, love brewed between Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. After dating for around 5 years, on October 16, 2012, they were pronounced husband and wife.

Before Neelam Kothari, television actor Samir Soni was married to model Rajlaxmi Khanvilkar in the late 90s. But after 6 months of their marriage, there was trouble in paradise for Samir and Rajlaxmi and they parted their ways. In 2007, Neelam and Samir met through a common friend and TV mogul Ekta Kapoor. Finally, on January 24, 2011, the lovebirds were tied in holy matrimony, they took vows and held hands to be together for eternity.

Call her a marriage breaker or not, but Raj Kundra did walk out of his first wedding after falling for Shilpa. The successful and London-based rich businessman, Raj Kundra was earlier married to Kavita and according to his ex-wife, Shilpa lured Raj to leave his wife and marry her. But according to Raj, he had already separated from Kavita twelve months prior to the time he met Shilpa. After all the conjectures, Raj and Shilpa tied the knot on November 22, 2009.

Former Miss Universe Lara Dutta walked down the aisle with ace tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi on February 16, 2011. But this is Mahesh’s second marriage as he was earlier married to model Shvetha Jaishankar. Shvetha blamed Lara for breaking her home and she claimed that Mahesh started seeing Lara while they two were still married.

Earlier film distributor Anil Thadani was married to Ramu Sippy's daughter, Natasha Sippy. But after quite some time, they both decided to part their ways and filed for divorce. The reason rumoured to be Anil’s proximity to the sensuous diva of Bollywood, Raveena Tandon. During the making of the film, Stumped, they both met and fell in love. Raveena and Anil took their wedding vows on February 22, 2004, and are now enjoying their marital bliss.

After a broken engagement with Abhishek Bachchan, Karisma Kapoor tied the knot with the Delhi-based industrialist, Sanjay Kapur. But before Karisma, Sanjay was married to Nandita Mehtani. They got divorced in 2002, and later Sanjay and Karisma had a grand wedding ceremony on September 29, 2003. But after 11 years and 2 kids, their marriage also went kaput and they got divorced in 2016.

Anurag Kashyap fell in love with Kalki Koechlin when he was still married to his first wife, Aarti Bajaj. Anurag and Kalki met on the sets of the critically acclaimed film, Dev. D. He divorced Aarti in 2009 and started dating Kalki. In 2011, Kalki and Anurag decided to walk down the aisle, but in 2015, they got divorced too.

The Hawa Hawai of Bollywood, Sridevi fell in love with a married man, Boney Kapoor. It was an extra-marital affair for Boney and he also impregnated the actress before marriage. Soon Sridevi’s pregnancy news spread like wildfire and she was accused of breaking Mona Kapoor and Boney Kapoor’s marital life. To marry Sridevi, Boney left Mona and their two children, Arjun and Anshula Kapoor. Boney and Sridevi exchanged wedding vows on June 2, 1996.

Superstar Dharmendra’s first marriage was at the age of 19 with Parkash Kaur in the year 1954. But the original He-Man of Bollywood fell in love with the Dream Girl of Bollywood, Hema Malini. And the fact that he was still married didn’t stop him from falling in love and wooing his lady-love. Initially Hema ji did not reciprocate his love as she was not keen on getting involved with a married man, but eventually, the Cupid struck her. Since his first wife, Parkash did not want a divorce, Dharmendra converted to Islam to marry Hema ji. After dating for almost 5 years, Dharmendra and Hema Malini tied the nuptial knot in 1979.

After working together, Honey Irani and Javed Akhtar fell madly in love with each other. They got married on March 21, 1972, and became proud parents to Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar. While Honey was busy managing the household chores and her family, Javed secretly found love in the actress, Shabana Azmi. When news broke out to his first wife, they started having fights and she realised that Javed can never be the same man whom she loved. She asked him to leave her for Shabana and after living separately, they got divorced six years after that. Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar tied the knot in a simple Muslim wedding soon after he got the divorce from his first wife.

Aamir Khan was head over heels in love with his neighbour and first girlfriend, Reena Dutta. So much so, that they eloped at the age of 19 to get married. But while shooting for the film, Lagaan, Aamir lost his heart to Kiran Rao, who was then assisting Ashutosh Gowariker. Aamir and Kiran became really good friends, and their friendship eventually turned into love. Ending his 15 years of marriage with Reena, in 2002 they officially got divorced and on December 28, 2005, Aamir Khan married Kiran Rao.

Kamal Haasan tied the nuptial knot with Vani Ganapathi in the year 1978. After seven years of marriage, when Vani went to the USA to become a makeup artist, Kamal found love in Sarika and he started living with her. After being in a live-in relationship, they both were blessed with two daughters, Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan. Since their two kids were out of the wedlock and the societal pressure started pouring in, Kamal and Sarika decided to tie the knot in 1988. He also filed for the divorce with his first wife, Vani.

In her era, Jaya Prada was the highest paid actress of Bollywood. But that was also the time when she came under the Income Tax department radar. She had a rough time which made her emotionally as well as professionally drained. That was the time when she met the film producer, Srikanth Nahata and fell in love with him. Kirron Kher and Anupam Kher love story is all about believing in a second chance. A shy Kashmiri boy fell for a patakha Punjabi kudi and they tied the knot in 1985. But before they both got married, Anupam had an arranged marriage in 1979 but he wasn’t happy in his relationship and Kirron was married to a Mumbai-based businessman, Gautam Berry for five years (1980-1985). Going through a rough patch in their respective marriages, Anupam and Kirron fell in love and are a happily married couple now.

Miss India pageant winner and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak actress, Juhi Chawla is married to the owner of The Mehta Group, Jay Mehta. It is the second marriage for Jay, as he was earlier married to Yash Birla’s sister, Sujata Birla who lost her life in a plane crash that occurred in Bangalore in 1990. And 5 years later his wife passed away, Jay Mehta tied the nuptial knot with Juhi Chawla in a close-knit affair in the year 1995.

Rani Mukerji was Yash Raj Films' founder Yash Chopra’s leading lady and this is how she came closer to Yash ji’s son, Aditya Chopra. Aditya Chopra was earlier married to Payal Khanna, who was his childhood sweetheart. There were speculations that Aditya divorced Payal, after 7 years of married life, because of Rani. After dating each other for quite a long time, Rani Mukerji tied the knot with Aditya Chopra on April 21, 2014.

Raj Babbar was enjoying his marital bliss with his first wife Nadira Babbar until he met the dusky beauty, Smita Patil. Their on-screen pairing helped their bond strengthened their off-screen chemistry. Raj was smitten by her and he left his wife, Nadira to marry Smita. The dancing queen of Bollywood, Helen is married to Bollywood’s famous scriptwriter, Salim Khan. Salim married Helen without divorcing his first wife, Salma. Helen also shares a great rapport with the children of Salim and his first wife - Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and Alvira. There is no room for antipathy for Salim’s first wife, Salma and second wife, Helen and they both share a sisterly bond.
So, these were the celebrities who have set a different example through their relationships and marriages. Some of them are happily married and some broke up but they will always be called the ‘other women’ and a reason for someone’s divorce. Nobody is perfect and not even our Bollywood celebrities.
