Salman Khan once went underwent an ‘uncomfortable’ gamma knife surgery
Salman Khan’s recent thin appearance has brought attention to the actor’s old interviews, in which he spoke about his health. One of them is during his appearance on the talk show, Two Much With Kajol And Twinkle.
During the same, Salman Khan revealed that in 2007, he had a neurological disorder named trigeminal neuralgia, that caused him intense facial pain. For the same, he went through a gamma knife surgery. Recalling the pain, he said that people commit suicide due to the condition. In his words:
"It is the worst pain. It is called ‘the suicidal disease.’ The highest number of suicides happen because of this condition. You would not want your biggest enemy to have that pain. And I had it for seven and a half years."
Even though Salman Khan rarely spoke about the surgery, it is worth mentioning that the actor used to take several 750 mg painkillers, but it did not relieve his pain. Initially, doctors believed that the pain was related to a dental problem; however, it ultimately led to a major surgery.
Talking about the surgery, it is a specialised and non-invasive treatment. Salman once revealed that the entire process was very uncomfortable, as during the procedure, some screws were attached to his face. Despite going through a long surgery, doctors had told him that it might reduce his pain by just 20 to 30 percent.
However, there was a major difference after the surgery, as per Salman Khan. After the surgery, he felt instant relief from the unbearable facial pain. Over the years, he has described the condition as one of the most difficult challenges of his life. Sharing details about the surgery, Salman Khan was quoted as saying:
"They fix screws on your face for 7-8 hours. They make you lie down with the gamma knife...Now the aneurysm is there. An arteriovenous malformation is present. But you have got to live with it."

Recently, Salman Khan attended the inauguration of the Data Collection and Segregation Support Centre. The video clip from the same instantly went viral and it sparked major health concerns. Fans wondered if he was doing fine or not. For the unversed, it was his thin appearance that shocked everyone.
One user commented, "May be he has some medical condition." Another user wrote, "Is everything ok with Salman Khan and his health..?" A third user penned, "End of an era. It’s really sad to see this condition of Salman khan." A fourth user shared, "Is he really Salman Khan? Is he alright? Doesn’t look like."
Talking more about the actor, he is best-known for iconic movies like Partner, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Ready, Ek Tha Tiger, Judwa, Karan Arjun and more. Currently, he is gearing up for Maatrubhumi, alongside Chitrangada Singh. As per reports, the movie will be released in August 2026. Apart from this, Salman Khan has a few more films in the pipeline; however, he hasn't confirmed anything.
