Looks like, National award winner, Sonam Kapoor is all set to tie the knot with her long-time businessman beau, Anand Ahuja on May 8, 2018, in Mumbai. To begin with, the newest entrant in the Kapoor family, Anand Ahuja is the grandson of the Delhi-based businessman, Harish Ahuja who is the owner of India’s largest export house, Shahi Exports. He now serves as the Managing Director of Shahi Exports. Born and brought up in the capital, Delhi, Anand has two younger brothers, Amit Ahuja and Anant Ahuja. After completing his schooling from American Embassy School in Delhi, Anand went to the University of Pennsylvania for his graduation in Economics and International Affairs. For further studies, he decided to pursue MBA from the world-renowned B-school, Wharton. And to understand how the financial market works, Anand seized the opportunity to intern with the Deutsche Bank.
Post this, to understand more about the nitty-gritties of retail business, Anand Ahuja worked at his uncle’s store, Macy’s Inc. Then after working with the Last Sportswear, he worked as a Product Manager in the Amazon, USA. For his love for sneakers and apparels, Anand started his own business in the same field and in 2011, he opened India's first multi-brand sneaker company, VegNonVeg in Delhi. Later in partnership with his father’s company, Shahi Exports, Anand launched his own clothing brand, Bhane. A source was quoted as saying, “Ahuja has a keen sense of business and has a strong foothold in the market when it comes to apparel and shoes. Anand Ahuja’s massive obsession for sneakers has not only tagged him the 'Sneakerheads of Instagram' by GQ India April 2017 list, but it seems to have rubbed on his lady-love as well. Sonam is often seen ditching the high heels for comfy sneakers. Apart from the obsession with the sneakers, Anand has a major thing for basketball. Anand enthusiastically plays basketball and loves watching National Basketball Association (NBA) matches supporting his favourite team, Los Angeles Lakers’. As per the reports, Sonam and Anand will tie the nuptial knot on May 8, 2018. The wedding festivities will start on May 7, 2018, and the shaadi ki taiyaari has already started at the Kapoor mansion. Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s pre-wedding functions like mehendi and sangeet will be held at different venues, and the wedding at another place. According to an insider of the family, “Yes, the initial plan was to have a destination wedding but it’s because of Sonam’s grandmother that they decided to change the venue and keep it somewhere close to their residence. Sonam’s grand mom can’t travel that far and the family obviously feels her presence is more important than the destination.”
Sonam and Anand’s sangeet will take place at her best friend, Samyukta Nair’s five-star resort-style hotel, The Leela at Sahar. Their next function, mehendi will take place at the Sonam’s 35-crore luxurious duplex apartment in Sunteck Signature Island building at Bandra Kurla Complex. And finally, Sonam and Anand will exchange wedding vows at Sonam’s maternal aunt, Kavita Singh’s heritage mansion in Bandra. For Sonam’s fun-filled sangeet, Bollywood's ace choreographer, Farah Khan is choreographing the performances. As per the reports, “Rehearsals have kicked off at Anil Kapoor’s Juhu bungalow. The doting dad and mom Sunita will be putting together a special act for the bride-to-be at the sangeet. Sonam’s cousins and extended family have joined in as well for the pre-wedding ceremony.” Further talking about the performances, the source revealed, “They will perform on her hit songs like the Veere… title track, “Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai” from the Fawad Khan co-starrer Khoobsurat, the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo title track, and “Dheere Dheere” from her music video with Hrithik Roshan, among others, besides other popular wedding songs.” About Farah being a part of the wedding, the source stated, “Anil and Sunita have known Farah since the time she started out in Bollywood. Over the years, Anil has danced to many hit numbers choreographed by her. About the wedding cards, both the families have sent out the invitations in the e-paper format. The e-cards will have the guests’ names engraved on it to avoid the gatecrashing at the wedding. Sonam’s Veere Di Wedding co-stars Swara Bhasker, Kareena Kapoor Khan, BFF Jacqueline Fernandez, her cousins- Arjun Kapoor, Mohit Marwah, Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor among the others will attend the wedding. Sonam Kapoor’s Dutt biopic co-star, Ranbir Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan are also some of the invitees.
