'Berlin' Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix after a long wait of more than two years. The new season delivers a decent experience despite being a little slow than Season 1.
The wait of three years is finally over. Berlin Season 2, also titled Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine, has arrived on Netflix on May 15, 2026. A spin-off of Money Heist, the series followed a similar format in its storyline, which still managed to leave a positive impression. Just like Money Heist, emotions and a lot of other things played an important role in helping the story move forward.
Although Berlin was not renewed immediately, viewers expected a return of the series due to the success it found with Season 1. All eight episodes have now started streaming. Keep reading to know if Season 2 is a better watch than Season 1!
Berlin Season 2 is about a new heist planned by 'Berlin' and 'Damian.' However, the intentions of the characters are something different. There are undoubtedly a lot of intense and interesting moments throughout the show. But the new season also prioritises the bonds shared between the characters, along with the conflicts happening between the gangs. Heist shows need some tension to keep the audience guessing what’s going to happen next. The writing helps a lot in this case, as a certain mood is maintained until the end.
With eight episodes running for close to an hour, it is a tough job to execute the writing material in the best way possible and keep the series entertaining. The makers have tried to do the same. But Berlin Season 2 still suffers in certain portions. At the same time, multiple moments prevent it from sinking. The best thing here is that all the characters are not introduced at once, which allows the audience to connect with the people appearing on screen.
A few romantic angles have been added, and they are expected to hold everyone’s attention, despite not offering anything new or engaging. The subplots seem unnecessary in some scenes. However, they also work in a few other moments. The writing of the lead characters also deserves some praise since they get to show different shades, apart from the fact that their dreams are much bigger compared to those of other people.
Considering the main theme of Berlin Season 2, the makers have added some sequences that have been directed well. Although a few scenes might not look real, they add the thrill that is needed for such shows. The series is expected to make a few feel that it is possibly too long. But the editing work is still not bad. The use of music in some moments deserves a lot of praise, as it provides a pleasant viewing experience. The tunes additionally help to convey what is going on screen.
Every successful show faces the pressure of delivering something better if it is renewed. There have been many examples over the years. Although Berlin Season 2 does not succeed in this field, it still manages to bring some freshness. Things look a little bit theatrical this time since relationships and the emotions involved with them play an important role in the storyline. Characters are expected to be backstabbed due to the hidden intentions. The use of the new themes looks interesting, and they even seem to be just stretching the show beyond a certain limit.
Compared to Berlin Season 1, the second season does not have sufficient sequences that are expected to be recalled once the show ends. It follows a route where anyone can easily see the outcome without guessing anything. However, the heist moments and some suspense elements work to some extent. The supporting characters don’t get enough scope to shine this time. But the frequent presence of the main ones won’t leave anyone disappointed.
