Amid new theories, a viral claim circulating online has linked Patrick Clancy and his current wife, Rachel Danis, to a marathon, where they allegedly ran together just days before his children's murder. But how reliable is this claim? Let's decode.
Did Patrick Clancy and Rachel Danis run a marathon before the killings?
The latest buzz has surfaced after posts circulating on Facebook, Reddit and Threads claimed that Patrick and Rachel ran the 2023 Bermuda Half Marathon, just nine days before Lindsay killed their children. The claim gained momentum after users shared screenshots and race-result references as supposed evidence that the two were together before the tragedy.
Because Lindsay was still married to Patrick at the time of the killings, some users interpreted the alleged marathon appearance as evidence of a secret relationship with Rachel. Others went further, using the claim to question Patrick's account of the events surrounding his children's deaths. But a closer look at the race records tells a very different story.
While Patrick Clancy and Rachel Danis did appear together on Bermuda’s race results, the race results that are relevant are from 2026, not 2023. Patrick finished 81st in 1:43:11 and Rachel 105th in 1:47:33. So the marathon claim is not true. But the truth is, neither ran the 2023 marathon, all the hype notwithstanding.
Patrick and Rachel reportedly began dating in February 2024, more than a year after Cora, Dawson and Callan were killed. Rachel later moved into Patrick's New York apartment, and the couple appeared together publicly, including at the New York City Marathon in November 2025. After Patrick's divorce from Lindsay, the couple married in April 2026. There is currently no credible evidence that Rachel was romantically involved with Patrick in January 2023.
Patrick's ran a marathon in 2024, after his children's deaths
Patrick's first marathon was the 2024 Boston Marathon, more than a year after his children's deaths. He ran in memory of Cora, Dawson and Callan and used the event to raise money for Boston Children's Hospital, where his children had been treated. completed the race in 3:59:19 and raised more than USD 75,000.
Patrick wrote on his fundraising page, "For me, the marathon will always be a small detail in what we set out to accomplish, really a vessel for doing something so much bigger." He also remembered his children while speaking publicly about their lives. He said:
"I love my kids. They were wonderful people. They had a lot of friends. Everybody loved them. They had short lives, but they had really good lives."
The marathon isn't the only aspect of Patrick's post-tragedy timeline being scrutinized online. An AllTrails review attributed to Patrick was posted in February 2023 for a hike at the Manakin Waterfall Nature Reserve in Costa Rica. The review described the hike as “amazing.” The date was only weeks after the children's funeral, prompting social media users to question whether Patrick had traveled there at that time.
However, that review alone does not prove exactly when the hike took place. Separately, The New Yorker reported in 2024 that Patrick did travel to Central America and Europe in February 2023, meaning his broader post-tragedy travel is documented.
Lindsay Clancy has admitted to killing her three kids: Cora, Dawson and Callan, but has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
