Wednesday, February 11, 2026, marked the eleventh day since the manhunt for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie began. The mother of TV anchor Savannah Guthrie has been missing without a trace since February 1, 2026, and over 100 officials have been involved in the search, including the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. And now, the search for Nancy Guthrie has entered a tense new phase, and attention has turned toward her older daughter, Annie Guthrie, after renewed law enforcement activity near her home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills.

Officials swarm Annie Guthrie's neighbourhood after new evidence found in Nancy Guthrie's kidnapping, their fourth visit to the property

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, law enforcement officials returned to Annie Guthrie's home in Tucson, Arizona, a 10-minute drive from Nancy's residence. This marks the fourth time that Annie and her husband Tommaso Cioni's house has been searched, and each visit has sparked curiosity about its possible connection to the 84-year-old's abduction.

According to recent reports, FBI agents entered Annie's home on Wednesday with a key and wearing gloves. They took mail from her mailbox and even removed some more evidence from inside the house. The FBI confirmed that an "extensive search" was underway in the Catalina Foothills. Investigators have not explained the purpose of the visit.

Before this, the officials had visited Annie and Tommaso's home on Tuesday, February 10, when locals saw teams from the FBI, the Pima County Sheriff’s Dept., and the SWAT deploy search trucks around the neighbourhood. Law enforcement conducted door-to-door inquiries and searched nearby brushy areas. Just a day before this, Pima County police arrived at Annie and Tommaso's residence with a search warrant and spent hours inside before coming out with bags of evidence collected with consent. As a part of the search, investigators were even seen searching a septic tank behind Nancy Guthrie's home.

Drone footage circulating online showed Pima County Sheriff’s Department detectives opening a manhole cover in the backyard and lowering a long pole inside. Authorities have not released details about what, if anything, was found. Earlier in the investigation, a security camera at the home was removed, and Annie’s car was seized as part of the inquiry.

As the investigation team searches for more answers, they continue to comb the area for additional clues, especially after finding a mysterious glove near Nancy's property on the eleventh day. Between Saturday and Sunday (February 7-8, 2026), the FBI, along with the local police, conducted a late-night search of Annie and Tommaso Cioni's Tucson home, though no suspect was named. Before this, sheriffs and FBI agents visited the property on February 9, with Savannah Guthrie reportedly present. That time, too, the officials spent about 2 hours inside Annie's house, but the details of the family meeting were not disclosed.

Why is Annie Guthrie's neighbourhood at the centre of the probe now?

Annie Guthrie and Tommaso Cioni have become central figures in Nancy Guthrie's investigation. The couple lives roughly 10 minutes from Nancy's home, and it was reportedly the last place she had visited before retiring to her house on January 31, 2026. Nancy had dinner with Annie that evening, and it was her son-in-law, Tommaso, who reportedly dropped her off at her residence. This makes him one of the last people known to have seen her. Local residents told reporters they heard authorities were searching the neighbourhood based on a theory that a security camera may have been discarded along a nearby roadway. Officials have not confirmed that claim.

Before this, public attention fell on Tommaso Cioni, especially after NewsNation journalist Ashleigh Banfield called him the "prime suspect" in Nancy Guthrie's investigation. While Sheriff Chris Nanos later clarified that there was no official suspect in the case, the new surveillance photos from Nancy's doorbell camera left many convinced that the masked individual was none other than Cioni. As of now, neither Annie Guthrie nor her husband has been named a suspect or person of interest by the FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

A recent photo from the investigation scene captured an official looking inside a culvert in Annie's neighbourhood. Videos and photos from the scene show officials canvassing the area for any minor leads they could find. Investigators have stressed that these are routine steps in complex abduction cases, especially when new leads surface.

What's the current status of Nancy Guthrie's abduction case?

Nancy, 84, was reported missing on February 1, and authorities believe she was taken from her home during the early morning hours. The case quickly drew national attention due to her daughter, Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie. Now, more than a week later, investigators are still racing for answers. However, the newly recovered footage from Nancy's doorbell camera has accelerated the search for the 84-year-old. Within the last 24 hours, the Arizona sheriff's department has reportedly received over 4,000 calls with 18,000+ new tips about the potential suspect.

The officials have recently discovered a significant piece of evidence: an insulated black glove near Nancy's property that closely resembles the gloves the masked individual wore in the surveillance footage. This is the first solid piece of evidence that could uncover vital clues about the perpetrator and help trace Nancy. The recovered glove has been sent for forensic testing, where experts will likely analyse it for DNA, fingerprints, or fibres that could provide significant leads to identify the masked individual in the footage. While there has been zero proof of life so far, the officials are hopeful that Nancy "is still out there".

For now, Annie Guthrie’s home appears central to the probe because of the timing, proximity, and evolving investigative leads. However, authorities maintain that the case remains active and that no formal suspects have been publicly identified yet.
