Veteran actress Zeenat Aman, who was one of the most successful heroines of her time, is back making headlines. Ever since Zeenat made her Instagram debut, she has been giving goals on how to stay glamorous even in the 70s. While Zeenat's IG feed is a positive place as she often shares anecdotes of her life. Recently, Zeenat revealed that she got her eye injury treated, and it re-sparked murmurs of how the actress was brutally assaulted by her ex-husband, Sanjay Khan. She had accused him of slapping her in public, and because of this she had a major eye injury.
For those who don't know, Zeenat Aman and Sanjay Khan fell in love while working together in the film, Abdullah. In 1978, the couple tied the knot. However, their wedding ended within a year and it was a traumatic one. According to a report in Cineblitz, Zeenat had permanently damaged her eyes after a brutal slap by her then-husband, Sanjay Khan.

However, Sanjay Khan (who is the father of famous interior designer, Sussanne Khan and Bollywood actor, Zayed Khan) denied the allegation. In a podcast with Hrishikesh Kannan, Sanjay shared that he never slapped her. He called it a 'PR stunt' against him. He even went on to share that Zeenat's injury was 'heriditary'.
However, not many know that Sanjay was 'exiled for four years' after the story broke, and when he released his autobiography, The Big Mistakes Of My Life, Sanjay didn't mentioned the incident. When Hrishikesh asked him about the same, he said:
"I was so pained and horrified with the one-sidedness of the entire story because nobody even asked me what happened."
Further, Sanjay Khan shared his stance and added that he was accused of her eye going out, and she lost her eye, which was not right. He added that in the later years, she had done several films, which proves that she had perfect eyes. Sanjay Khan was quoted as saying:
"I was even accused of her eye going out… she is losing her eye which is not right. If you see ’81, ’82, ’83, ’84, she has done several films. There is evidence of the fact that she has perfect eyes. Later on in life, she became a little squint because her mother squinted a little bit. It was a hereditary thing that was labelled on me that I slapped her, I never slapped her, and this was blasphemy."
If reports are to be believed, it is shared that Sanjay Khan was partying in the hotel, Taj with his first wife, Zarine Katrak. However, when Zeenat reached the place to settle an issue of film's date, Sanjay was shocked to see her. He took her to a room, wherein she was brutally thrashed and beaten. According to a source, he pulled her by her hair and punched her, which left one of Zeenat's eyes permanently damaged. The scary incident was witnessed by friends and family.
A source close to Zeenat has come in support of her, after Sanjay Khan published his autobiography. The source revealed that he had witnessed the incident, and that he should be in jail and not writing his self-glorifying fairytale biography. The source further shared:
"And secondly, if you were brazen enough to humiliate and hurt a lady in public, why are you shy of admitting it now? This is as bad as the film Sanju which completely whitewashed Sanjay Dutt’s image."
