Now, as the poster of her upcoming project, Kalki 2898 AD, surfaced on social media, netizens started comparing her look with that of American actress and singer, Zendaya in the 2021 science fiction film, Dune, directed and co-produced by Denis Villeneuve. The makers of the film also shared a small introductory video of Deepika's character 'Padma' in the same project.

In the poster, Deepika Padukone can be seen alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. However, soon after the poster surfaced on the internet, netizens mentioned that Deepika's look completely resembles with that of Zendaya in the latter's film, Dune. While one user tweeted, "Thought deepika’s looking like zendaya for a sec there", another mentioned, "Can’t understand who’s more MID, Zendaya or Deepika." One more comment read as "Deepika tak zendaya lag rhi hai. Itna detail mein copy kiya hai."
Deepika Padukone was seen opposite Hrithik Roshan in the film, Fighter. However, when a sneak peek into one of the movie's scenes surfaced on the internet, it landed the diva in some stiff criticism. For instance, once, a Reddit user shared a half-underwater steamy moment of Hrithik and Deepika from one of the movie scenes. While Hrithik was not clearly visible in the picture, Deepika was captured from behind. She was seen wearing a high-waisted white-hued bikini. Soon after the picture was shared online, Deepika started receiving mean comments on her sense of dressing. Some also mentioned that she needs to change her stylist, who has no sense of dressing her.
