Mumtaz Criticises Zeenat Aman's Live-In Advice, Slams Latter's Marriage, 'Shaadi Nibhani Padti...'

Veteran actress, Zeenat Aman is known for being one of the trendsetters in the Hindi film industry. Be it her bold opinions or fashion picks, she never shies away from doing what her heart wants. To date, she remains popular for her unapologetic point of view on several social issues. More recently, the veteran actress shared a post on her Instagram account, where she talked about the importance of living together before tying the knot.

Mumtaz disagrees with Zeenat Aman’s view on live-in relationships

During an interview with Zoom, yesteryear’s popular actress, Mumtaz, who is Zeenat’s co-star in the film, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, spoke strictly against her opinion of live-in relationships. When she was asked about Zeenat’s recent social media post, Mumtaz said that even if a couple lives in, there is no guarantee in the future that they would have a successful marriage. In her words:

“I don’t agree with Zeenat. Kitna bhi live-in kar lo, kya guarantee hai? What is the assurance that even after living in for months and years, your marriage will be successful?”

Mumtaz says that maintaining a marriage is not easy

Furthermore, the veteran actress said that people should not get married and instead women should find men who appeal to them. Talking about how society has progressed, Mumtaz said that children should be self-sufficient and daughters should be brought up in a manner that they don’t need a man to complete them. Sharing that she has been married for forty years, she said:

“Main toh kehti hoon, marriage hi nahin honi chahiye. What is the need to tie yourself down in this day and age? Why marry? For children? Arrey, go out there, find the man who appeals to you, and get his baby without physical intimacy. Zamana bahot aage chala gaya hai. Let your children be self-sufficient. Bring up your daughters to believe they don’t need a man to be complete. I have been married for more than forty years. Shaadi nibhani padti hai. It is not easy.”

Mumtaz asks Zeenat Aman to be careful with what she advises on social media

In the same interaction, Mumtaz discussed that Zeenat should be careful with what she posts on her social media. She said that as a society and nation, we are not ready for advice that is contrary to our moral values. The veteran actress further added that she can understand Zeenat’s excitement about gaining huge social media popularity and sounding like a cool aunty, but she must be careful with her advice.

Mumtaz corroborates her point of view by taking the example of Zeenat Aman’s failed marriage

Mumtaz concluded her statement by highlighting that if girls start to adopt the live-in culture then marriage would become obsolete. She further questioned if someone would marry their son to a girl, who previously was in a living relationship. Moreover, she even took Zeenat’s example to corroborate her point of view on live-in relationships and said:

“If girls adopt the live-in culture, marriage as an institution will become obsolete. Tell me honestly, would you marry your son to a girl whom you know to have been in a live-in relationship? Aap Zeenat ko hi le lo misaal ke taur par…She knew Mazhar Khan for years before marrying him. Her marriage was a living hell. She should be the last person doling out advice on relationships.”

Zeenat Aman’s post on live-in relationships

On April 10, the veteran actress, Zeenat Aman shared a post on her Instagram account on relationship advice. She said in her long post that a couple should live together before they hop onto the next phase. The actress shared that she has given the same advice to her two sons, who had or have been in a live-in relationship. She added in her long note that a person can be the best version of themselves for a few hours, but living together gives a reality check.
