When you are in a relationship, you hold your partner in high esteem. For you, that person becomes the most amazing identity in the whole world. What happens when the relationship gets over? Photos are burned, folders are cleared and curses became your only language. The most dreadful thing after a break-up would be to run into your ex but is that the case with everyone?
Apparently, some people are mature enough to understand that not every relationship is meant to survive forever. Just because you cannot stay lovers, it does not mean that you cannot remain friends as well. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are two talented actors who were once in love. They were always vocal about their affair and Deepika even dedicated a tattoo to her then-boyfriend. However, they parted ways and broke our hearts too. But this wasn’t the end of their relationship. Once these two set couple goals for us and now they are setting friendship goals too. They proved they are best friends:
Deepika vehemently bashed Ranbir for his coquettish behaviour. Their fans lost all hopes of seeing these two together but the actors took their first step towards friendship when they signed Ayan Mukerji’s movie, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. They proved that you can get past everything if you care about each other.
Holding each other’s hand, Ranbir and Deepika concluded Manish Malhotra’s show, The Walk Of Mijwan, in the most fashionable way. These buddies sure made memories for a lifetime on that ramp. Deepika shared the above picture from the show, and captioned it:
"jab naina met bunny... @manishmalhotra05"
Manish Malhotra shared the above video of showstoppers, Deepika and Ranbir walking hand in hand, and captioned it:
"The very beautiful @deepikapadukone and the fabulous #ranbirkapoor .both stunning and ethereal as they walk and close.. #thewalkofmijwan Show last night @mwsyouth #manishmalhotraworld @mmalhotraworld"
Deepika and Ranbir might not be in a relationship anymore but they do share a chemistry which is divine and hard to find. Deepika danced with Ranbir on a song from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and showed that you can be proud of your ex.
During one of the promotional interviews for their movie, Tamasha, Ranbir used a fancy English word. Like a true friend, Deepika burst into laughter and told everyone about Ranbir’s tryst with the language.
We all have been in that situation where we have to choose between revealing our friends’ secrets or to save them from the embarrassment. Just like a good friend, Deepika too chose the right thing. She spilt the beans on Ranbir’s tragic gas stories and made everyone laugh.
Deepika Padukone chose to wish Holi to her friends and family with one of the posters of her movie with Ranbir Kapoor, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Though it stirred a controversy as some of the fans wanted to see Deepika and Ranveer, but the lady chose her buddy.
Ranbir has always asserted that he is a big fan of Deepika, but we saw its intensity when he sang a song from her movie. It was everyone’s favourite number, Deewani Mastaani. The way he got all the lyrics right proves that he is her fan indeed (wink wink).
Deepika and Ranbir share a beautiful relationship. While talking about him, she casually referred to him as her bachcha. Now we know the kind of love that these two have. They love to annoy and pamper each other.
After an ugly break-up, Deepika and Ranbir had a bitter corner for each other. Things got better eventually. In a candid interview, Ranbir confessed how infidelity ruined his relationship. However, the best part of the interview was when he referred to Deepika as his family and said that he is proud of her.
"The amount of love I have for Deepika is like family. It's very warm, it's about care, about being proud of her. The facet of love, care and respect has changed but changed for the better. It's not your immature "I love her" kind of feeling. It's mature and that has come with age. Also, we have both positively moved on with our lives."
Being friends with your ex-boyfriend is hard but being friends with your girlfriend’s past lover is the hardest thing. Ranveer Singh has a heart of gold. He shares a good equation with Ranbir and even went out of the way to promote his movie, Tamasha.
While promoting Tamasha, Deepika and Ranbir graced the grand finale of the reality show, I Can Do That hosted by Farhan Akhtar. And adding full-on Tamasha on the show, Ranbir piggybacked Deepika to her seat from the stage. They had a complete blast on the show, giving their fans another moment to gush about them.
At the grand finale of India’s biggest acting talent hunt show for kids, India’s Best Dramebaaz, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone made one of the most spectacular entry on the show. For their entrance, Ranbir and Deepika recreated his grandfather, Raj Kapoor and Nargis’s iconic song, Pyaar Hua Iqrar Hua from the film, Shree 420. With the umbrella and rain in the background, Ranbir and Deepika recreated a perfect moment to adore!
Ranbir didn’t attend the success music bash of Tamasha, as he was in Vienna for his shooting schedule of Ae Dil Hai Mushil. But thanks to his marketing team, they introduced a unique promotional strategy as RK became a part of the celebration through Skype. During his video chat, he didn’t miss a chance to flirt with Deepika and they recreated their ‘Naina-Bunny’ moment. Ranbir tried to woo Deepika with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani dialogue, “Tum pehle bhi itni hi sundar thi,ya waqt ne kia kuch hasi sitam.” To which, Deepika blushed and wittily replied, “Are you saying this to me or yourself.”
On November 10, 2015, Deepika and Ranbir celebrated Diwali with each other at the promotions of Imtiaz Ali film, Tamasha. Former lovers made rangolis, lighted diyas and had too much fun celebrating the festival of lights. As per DNA reports, Ranbir said:
“Deepika is my comfort. She is my dal chaawal. When I'm with her I feel like I've come back home.”
And when he was asked about his marriage plans, Deepika intervened and answered:
"Ranbir can’t get married without my permission."
In an earlier interview with the TOI, when asked if she still loves Ranbir, Deepika was quoted as saying:
“Of course I do. I don’t think that every feeling has to be broken down as I don’t believe that emotions are unidimensional anyway. Feelings and emotions are very layered. He is someone I have always loved and someone I will always be extremely possessive about and very protective about. When I read about him, when I see his work, good bad whatever it is, I have my own monologue that is going on in my head and which I do share with him. I might even pick up the phone and talk to him immediately. There was a phase he was going through where I felt that his behaviour had changed a bit (I didn’t know it was intentional or had he become that person or it was misinterpreted). But it bothered me a lot. We are not in each other’s lives to know whether the change was permanent or it was completely fabricated. But the point is the things about him that were being reported, I felt that I had the right to pick up the phone on him and tell him that what was going on was not correct. Similarly with his film, the minute I see his work, I will tell him. Likewise, he will see my films and tell me what he liked and what he didn’t like. I can pick up the phone on him and say that why did you do Besharam. Of course, we are individual people at the end of the day and will still do what we have to do, but we have that comfort with each other where we can say that to each other.”
And when Ranbir Kapoor was asked the same question, he admitted:
“Yes of course. The amount of love I have for Deepika is like family. It’s very warm, it’s about care, about being proud of her. The facet of love, care and respect has changed but changed for the better. It’s not your immature I love her kind of feeling. It’s mature and that’s come with age. Also, we have both positively moved on with our lives.”
If you want to know how to remain friends with your ex-flame, learn something from what Deepika and Ranbir do. They have come a long way from that dark corner where nothing but hate grows. Today, they are proud of each other’s achievements. They are both playful and considerate; just like two best friends.
