Priyanka Chopra had tied the nuptial knot with the love of her life, Nick Jonas in December 2018. And since then, the couple has been winning our hearts with their public appearances, social media PDAs and lovey-dovey posts with one another. They have huge fandom, and ever since they got married, their fans have been waiting to hear the 'good news'.
After 3 years of being together, Priyanka and Nick had finally entered into the parenthood journey as they had welcomed a baby girl into their lives through surrogacy. They have been keeping their parenthood life under the wraps, maintaining their privacy. However, in a recent report, the baby girl's name has been revealed.
According to a TMZ report, Nick and Priyanka have named their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. The report mentioned her birth certificate, which showed that Priyanka and Nick had embraced parenthood with the arrival of their first child on January 15, 2022, and that she was born after 8 pm.
The meaning of the baby girl's name is an amalgamation of Nick and Priyanka's respective origins. 'Malti' has a Sanskrit origin which means small fragrant flower or moonlight. While Marie comes from Latin, which describes the star of the sea. It also has a biblical ring to it as it's the French version of Mary, which means mother of Jesus.
On January 22, 2022, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas had announced the arrival of their first child and had asked their friends, fans and family to give them privacy. They had shared a picture message on their respective Instagram handles that could be read as:
"We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much."
In a recent conversation with the comedian and YouTuber, Lilly Singh, Priyanka Chopra had opened up about raising a child. She had shared that she doesn't want to impose her desires and fears on her child as she grows up. Talking about the same, the new mommy had said:
"As a new parent right now, I keep thinking about that I will never be imposing my desires, fears, my upbringing on to my child. I have always believed that children come through you not from you. There is no belief like this is my child and I will shape everything. They come through you to find and build their own life. Recognising that really helped me, my parents were very non-judgemental in a certain way."
Well, we can't wait to get a glimpse of baby Chopra Jonas! What about you?
