Their love story is quite unusual, Kajol was one of the top-notched actresses of the 90s and Ajay was a less-successful actor. Her decision of getting married to Ajay came as surprise to her fans, friends and even her family. Critics had labelled them as an ‘unlikely pair’, many had commented that they would not last because of their contrasting personalities. But as they say, somethings are meant to be and so were Ajay and Kajol. Despite all the odds, Ajay Devgn and Kajol had begun their forever journey on February 24, 1999. Even after so many years of marriage, one look at them makes our hearts flutter.
As Ajay and Kajol completed 22 years of marital bliss today, i.e., February 24, 2021, we stumbled upon a throwback interview of Kajol, recalling the time when she realized that Ajay was the one for her. During an appearance on Look Who’s Talking With Niranjan, Kajol shared how she knew that Ajay would play a crucial role in her life and had said, “We were doing a shot together, and the shot was that I was supposed to slap him and he was supposed to very dramatically hold my hand so that I could not. I remember that moment and I remember thinking to myself, ‘Oh my God.’ It was one of those flashes that suddenly came to me: ‘This man is going to play a very crucial role in my life, I just know it.’?”

Kajol and Ajay were friends at that time and were dating other people. During the same interaction, Kajol also revealed that she used to discuss her boyfriend problems with Ajay and how he would come up with his sage advice. Talking about the same, she had retorted, “I remember, I was having problems with my boyfriend and I was telling him about it. He was sitting over there like one great big guruji and babaji, giving me his sage advice as to what I should do and how I should treat the situation at that point of time.”

Kajol and Ajay Devgn had begun dating each other while shooting for the film, Gundaraj in 1994. The couple had never resorted to the usual ‘I love you’ and there was no dreamy proposal either. The decision to get married was quite mature and both had grown with each other. Ajay had wanted the wedding to be a private affair and do you know, he had not even hired professional photographers for the wedding. The doting couple is blessed with two beautiful kids, daughter, Nysa and son, Yug.

In Neha Dhupia’s chat show, No Filter Neha, Kajol had opened up about her marriage and how besides both their parents, nobody else had wanted both of them to get married. Talking about the same she had mentioned that even her father was a little sceptical about her getting married to Ajay. She had revealed how her father had enquired why would she want to get married at such a young age and at the peak of her career, to which she had replied that she was in love with Ajay and had wanted to settle down.
