The five-day long festival of Durga Puja is here, and it is not just the pandal hopping that it’s famous for but also the fashion trends it sets. The Bong beauty, Kajol, every year loves to visit Durga Puja pandals and this year too, she is spotted visiting pandals in her traditional best. While on the occasion of Saptami, Kajol was seen getting emotional meeting her uncles, on Ashtami, she slew her look with her mom, Tanuja and sister, Tanishaa at the pandal.
On October 12, 2021, while scrolling through our social media handles, we had come across a video of Kajol breaking down into tears at the Durga puja pandal. In the video, Kajol was seen meeting her uncles at the pandal and getting emotional. The stunning actress was seen crying inconsolably while hugging her uncles.
A few hours back, Kajol was spotted stepping out with her family to celebrate Ashtami and go pandal hopping. For Ashtami, Kajol opted for a navy blue and silver Banarasi saree, while her son, Yug wore a white kurta-pyjama. On the other hand, Tanishaa wore a pinkish-orange Banarasi saree with a golden belt to cinch her waistline. Their mommy, Tanuja can be seen wearing a blue saree, and their uncle wore a teal green kurta with a green dhoti. The family certainly took the fashion game for Durga Puja a notch higher.
For the Saptami puja, Kajol had looked gorgeous in a plain bright pink-coloured saree, which she had teamed up with a sleeveless blouse having an intricate work on it. She had accentuated her look with a heavy necklace and green bangles. With her hair tied back in a jooda, Kajol had kept her look simple with blushed cheeks, bindi and pink lipstick. On the other hand, her cousin, Sharbani Mukherjee, had opted for a yellow saree.
Last year, on October 5, 2020, Ajay Devgn had informed that due to the untimely demise of his brother, Anil Devgan, the entire family is heartbroken. On October 6, 2020, Kajol had posted a picture of the Durga Puja pandal on her IG stories and had revealed that the Devgan family won’t be celebrating the festival this year. Kajol had written, “No pujo this year but I know Maa watches over me year-round. Really need her at this time.”
On October 4, 2019, Kajol had taken to her Instagram handle to share beautiful pictures with her mommy, Tanuja and sister, Tanishaa, from a pandal. Along with it, she had written, "First day of the pujas, shoshti. Before we share it with everybody else."
In an interview with Telegraph India, Kajol had recalled her childhood Durga Puja memories. She had shared how she loved the entire family coming together to celebrate the big festival. She had said, "When I was very young, I remember my whole family coming and sitting on the floor on those long mats, which we as children had to unroll. Then all the children would put the paatas on the floor. It used to be a huge family affair (at the Mukherjee puja in Mumbai that’s still celebrated every year), right from my uncles to my aunts to my cousins."
Kajol also recalled meeting the same people every year and being served bhaja. She had added, "There were the same faces that you kept seeing and we would recognise them and go, ‘Kemon achho? Bhalo?’ I remember being given this big bowl of bhaja and we were only allowed to serve the bhaja because we were not old enough to serve anything else. Of course, we would be eating and serving, eating and serving! We were allowed to run around the kitchen and we would stay there from 7 am till 11.30 pm."
Indeed, Kajol, Tanishaa and Tanuja got the Durga Puja fashion game perfect!
