According to a recent report by TMZ, the singer's dying wish was that no one could see her on her deathbed. A source who is familiar with the singer's final hours revealed that Dolly didn't want anyone to remember her in her fragile, dying state.
The publication also revealed that while family and friends were not allowed to be beside Dolly Parton, there was one exception. According to the report, her longtime wig and makeup artist, Cheryl Riddle, was allowed to see her because Dolly wanted to be all dolled up after she passed away. The source told the media outlet that Cheryl would see her anyway when she passed because she'd eventually have to do the hair and makeup regardless, so she was fine with her being by her side.

The media outlet reported that Dolly had an open-casket service and she looked fantastic. The report further revealed that another person saw her shortly before she died, and that was her nephew, Bryan Seaver, who had been recently removed as a security head.
According to reports, Bryan Seaver saw her the day before she passed. However, others who tried to get in, like her siblings, were denied entry. During Bryan's visit with Dolly Parton, the former security head was reminded by the singer that she wanted him to announce her passing. At her request, on the final day of her life, Bryan wrote the speech and recorded his announcement at her studio.
As many are aware, Dolly Parton passed away last month after stepping away from the public eye amid a series of health issues. She died on August 25, 2026, and was buried next to her husband, Carl Dean, following a private ceremony. It has since been revealed that Dolly flew all the way out to Germany for an experimental cancer treatment program and stayed there for about a week before heading back to the USA. It's unclear what the treatment entailed.
