Dolly Parton was laid to rest in a comfortable outfit as per her wish
On August 29, 2026, Dolly's niece penned a heartfelt emotional note on Instagram and confirmed that her aunt was laid to rest. She shared that it was hard to share her inner thoughts and she wanted to wait until her 'granny' was laid to rest. She started the note by remembering Dolly, and how she always made her feel like she was enough from a young age.

Lainey further stated that Dolly never made her feel like her dream was too big or she could never achieve them, she always believed in her. She added that while most people have some bad memories with their family members, with Dolly, she had none. She also pointed that since Dolly had no kids of her own, she always made them feel like they were hers and she loved them the same way. She wrote:
"Most people can think of at least one bad memory with everyone in their family. I honestly can’t think of one with her. Because she couldn’t have kids of her own, she always made us feel like we were hers. She loved us that way, and I’ll forever be grateful for that."
Lainey further shared in the note on how she is going to miss her voice, her laugh, her hugs and those 4 a.m. calls. She also shared the urge to see her name pop on her phone one last time. She wrote:
"I’m so thankful I said yes to the opportunities and memories I got to share with her as my Aunt Dolly, including being in a movie with her. I’m so glad I have those moments to look back on now. I have things I can watch, hear, and hold onto when I miss her. It still doesn’t feel real that she’s gone. I’m going to miss her voice, her laugh, her hugs, and just knowing she was there. I’m even going to miss those 4 AM calls, and I’d give anything to see her name pop up on my phone again."
For those who don't know, Dolly was laid to rest at Nashville burial site, Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum. A source told Page Six that Bryan, her nephew, was in charge of arrangements. The source also confirmed that it was a simple ceremony as Dolly always wanted it since she lived most of her life in public sphere.
Dolly died on August 25, 2026, after a brief battle with unspecified cancer and was laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Carl Dean. The couple were married for 58 years. Talking about the funeral, Dolly was reportedly buried in a cotton dress and her signature stilettos as per her wish.

Her nephew, Seaver revealed in an emotional Instagram video that Dolly once called him and bared her heart's desire to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton after her passing. Dolly believed that she had lived a life wearing heavy rhinestones and she finally wanted to be comfortable and have some rest. The nephew was quoted as saying:
"Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because, after a life wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest."
