Years ago, it was Charli who selected Gabbriette to become a member of the girl band Nasty Cherry. On the other hand, Charli's now-husband, George was the drummer of The 1975 and he knew Matty Healy.
Since Charli and George were dating at that time, Matty and Gabbriette reportedly crossed paths due to mutual friends. Eventually, they formed a good bond, which soon blossomed into love. Even though it cannot be verified if Charli XCX played cupid between the newlyweds or not, millions of fans are convinced that she is the unofficial matchmaker.
Talking about Matty Healy and Gabbriette's love story, their dating rumours first started surfacing in mid-2023, when they were photographed sharing a kiss in New York City. Since then, they made multiple public appearances, subtly confirming their romance.
In 2024, Matty Hearly popped the question to his ladylove. However, what is even more interesting is that the proposal happened after one of Charli XCX's Brat Tour concerts. The happiest news was confirmed by the model Gabbriette on her Instagram handle. It is worth noting that in 2024, a source close to the couple shared:
"The couple quickly fell in love and have had a serious and intense relationship from day one. They’re such a cool couple. They like to do things their way."
When Matty and Gabriette got engaged, it was the former’s mother, who appeared on an episode of Loose Women. Sharing details, she said:
"I have known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged. They went over to see their friends in New York, and I woke up this morning to find they put it on Instagram — Instagram official! He’s got engaged to Gabriella Bechtel, Gabbriette as she’s known. I couldn’t be more thrilled. She’s from Los Angeles, she’s absolutely gorgeous."
Coming to their wedding, Matty and Gabbriette chose an intimate yet star-studded wedding ceremony held at Los Angeles. For the same, the model opted for a white gown with a traditional veil, whereas her now-husband looked dashing in a classic black tuxedo.
