Who is Matt Healy's wife, Gabbriette?
Gabbriette was born as Gabriella Bechtel in Orange County, California, in 1997 to a Mexican mother and German father. She always dreamed of becoming a ballet dancer and originally moved to Los Angeles to pursue ballet but ended up getting cast as a dancer in Blood Orange’s music videos. She was then scouted and became a model. She has worked with brands like Diesel, Skims, and Bottega Veneta.
However, her modeling career was far from an overnight success. In a 2023 interview with Vogue, Gabbriette shared that she worked as a model without taking any payment. In the same interview, Gabbriette recalled her struggles while growing up. In her words:
"I was an unpaid, hard-working model for a very long time. The majority of students at my high school were beautiful, strictly white blonde girls, and my sister and I were Hispanic. I was called some pretty awful things. But then I just learned to laugh at it."
Besides being a model, Gabbriette is a singer. In 2018, Charlie XCX personally chose the members of a new punk rock band called Nasty Cherry, including her friend, Gabbriette, as the band's lead singer. Gabbriette is also fond of cooking. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she began posting cooking videos online and quickly gained attention for her food content. In an interview with Vogue, the model credited her parents for her love of cooking. In her words:
"Growing up, my family was always cooking. My mum is Mexican, and my dad is German, so there were all these different cultures colliding in our house. My mum would always be putting a twist on a recipe, and my dad would be grilling something or making sauerkraut. Family meals were a big part of our life; we’d sit down together after school without our phones and talk about our day, and the cooking process was always a big part of that."

After calling it quits with Taylor Swift, Matt Healy found love in Gabbriette. For those unaware, Taylor and Matt reportedly broke up in June 2023. Matt and Gabbriette were first spotted in 2023. At the time, the duo was photographed kissing and hugging in New York City. They were also seen holding hands around Soho and Washington Square Park. Later, that month, they appeared together at various New York Fashion Week events.
After dating for nearly a year, the couple announced their engagement in June 2024. Sharing a photo of herself wearing a ring featuring a black gem surrounded by pavé diamonds around both the stone and band on her Instagram Stories, Gabbriette wrote, "Marrying the 1975 is very brat." Confirming the news of their engagement, Matt’s mom Denise Welch said on Loose Women:
"I have known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged ... They went over to see their friends Charli and George in New York and I woke up this morning to the fact they’ve put it on Instagram."
A few hours back, a fan page of Matt Healy shared some photos and videos from their marriage. A user wrote, "I hope they'll be very happy. He deserves to be happy."
