As you enter the showbiz world, rumours of your linkups or breakups might crop up and one has to accept this dark side of being famous. Sometimes the rumours turn out to be true and in other cases, they fade away with the passage of time. Currently, dating rumours of one of the much-loved on-screen jodis, Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor have been doing the rounds. Though the alleged lovebirds have been denying being romantically involved with each other, their hangouts, social media banters and equation during the interviews tell a different story.
Love is love after all, and it seems that if at all Ishan and Janhvi are dating, they are taking their own sweet time to open up about it in public. And this is fair enough! Ever since Ishaan and Janhvi’s dating rumours have come into the forefront, her father Boney Kapoor has been keeping mum about it. Boney Kapoor was finally asked his stance to the rumours surrounding Ishaan and Janhvi’s ‘more than friends’ relationship. When asked about the same, the doting and understanding father was quoted as saying, “Yes, Ishaan and Janhvi have done a movie together and they must have become friends. I respect my daughter and her friendship with Ishaan.”
Many reports on various online tabloids have stated that the Dhadak co-stars have been “spending an inordinate amount of time together.” One of the reports could be read as, “We hear that Ishaan is always at Janhvi’s house and is quite welcomed by her dad Boney Kapoor who seems to be quite fond of him. On the other hand, a source close to the couple had revealed to SpotboyE that the actor never came down to the Kapoor mansion after the release of Dhadak. Rubbishing off the rumours, the source was quoted as saying, “Ishaan has, in fact, never visited the Kapoor residence after Dhadak released. There is nothing more than friendship between Janhvi and Ishaan.”
In a media interaction sometime back, Ishaan had revealed the camaraderie he shares with Janhvi, and had remarked, “We share a wonderful camaraderie and it translates on screen. There’s a good comfort level between us. Also, in one of the interviews, Janhvi had spoken about her father, Boney Kapoor’s opinions on the boys she dates. The actress had revealed that Boney screens all her dates and had shared, "Dad screens all my dates, except for the fact that I don't have many dates. Because papa thinks no boy ever is good enough for me." And when she was further probed as to what her dad thinks about her "friend" Ishaan, Janhvi had remarked, "Dad thinks Ishaan is a lovely actor and he is very talented. He is a very nice boy."
In April 2019, Janhvi had appeared on Feet Up with Stars season 2 and during the course of the discussion, she had shared Boney Kapoor’s first impression upon seeing Ishaan and had retorted, “Dad thinks Ishaan is a lovely actor and a nice boy. That’s all he thinks.” When she was further asked about how her father deals with her dating life, the actress had revealed, “Yes, except I don’t have many dates because dad believes (no boy) is good enough for me.”
In 2018, Ishaan had revealed that his friendship with Janhvi would be a lifelong one. He had also shared that working with her in Dhadak has always been very positive for him. The Beyond the Clouds fame was quoted as saying, “It's going to be a lifelong friendship. It felt like being on set with your best friend. Touchwood! There was a lovely energy on the set during the making of the film. We've just been honest and straight up with each other. We've been passionate about our work. Right after that, Janhvi had shared with the Hindustan Times, “Till now, he is the only person I have worked with, and it was easy to team up with him because I think we get along really well. Also, as an actor, I am in awe of him and the way he approaches his scenes. Plus, he has great energy (as an actor), and it is probably because he is new too. But what helped me a lot was the fact that he is (a) more experienced (actor) than me.”
