'Alaskan Bush People's Brown family has finally opened up about Matt Brown's death after he went missing near a river in Washington.
After a long search operation, Alaskan Bush People star, Matt Brown was found dead on May 30, 2026. Although his brothers, Bear and Noah, spoke about how he was facing challenges before his death and went missing, fans had several questions about his family's silence over the matter. But, a while ago, his family released a heartfelt message. In their statement, they have not only remembered him as one of the original stars of the Discovery Channel series, but also as a "beloved son, brother, uncle and friend".
Matt Brown's family recently shared a statement with US Weekly about his untimely death. They recalled him as an intelligent, curious, and creative person with a deep love for nature and learning. His family also mentioned that he was a gifted outdoorsman who felt most at home on the water, in the wilderness, or sharing his knowledge with others. But along with his virtues, they also acknowledged his struggles.
Matt's family mentioned how he not only dealt with his substance addiction issues, but also honestly shared his experiences for others to learn from. Brown's family also shared that the late reality TV star also faced mental health issues, recovery, and setbacks. But he did not lose hope easily and fought it time and again. At the same time, he ensured that others in the same situation would give their all to overcome it. Sharing how they felt proud of Matt, they said:
"We are incredibly proud of the lives Matt touched before his untimely death. Some of the messages we treasure most are from people who told us Matt's honesty about addiction and recovery gave them hope during their own darkest moments."
The Brown family added that Matt's father, Billy Brown, had complete faith in his ability to heal and find peace. In turn, they asked his fans and other people to learn from Matt's life how to not be alone if they are struggling with addiction, depression, and homelessness. The statement concluded that Matt's life should not be judged by how it ended. Instead, people should take note of how he encouraged others, pursued knowledge, and created beauty in others' lives. In their words:
"When we think of Matt, we will not think first of his struggles. We will remember the young man who could navigate rough waters, draw for hours, lose himself in learning ancient symbols and forgotten histories, make us laugh unexpectedly, and dream bigger than most people ever dare to dream. He was imperfect. He was human. He was deeply loved. And he will be missed beyond words."
The authorities confirmed Matt Brown's death after they found a body in the Okanogan River, Washington. According to a new update from the local Sheriff's office, a group of private citizens found a deceased person on May 30, 2026.
