Now in Week 8, the house has been shaken up by a special 3-day live feed blackout leading into a game-changing twist that officially kicks off the jury phase, leaving the remaining houseguests scrambling for safety. Following the twist, the feeds returned with a new HOH crowned.
How did the medieval Gauntlet unfold, and who didn't survive it?
The house reconvened to find the usual Head of Household battle scrapped, replaced by a castle set that pulled former Big Brother standouts back into the game. The episode on August 30, 2026, opened right where the last eviction left off and walked viewers through the new format, a medieval Gauntlet where safety was earned stone by stone and danger was passed on by choice.
Returning veterans ran the challenges, and the mechanics were simple but brutal. Securing a round gave you immunity, a chance to protect one other person, and the obligation to condemn someone else to keep playing. Dee came out on top first, locking in her own spot and pulling Devens off the danger list with her, while sending Drew and Haley back into the fray.
Drew then turned his win into leverage. After beating Haley head-to-head, he secured his own security and weighed saving Angela against Melody before siding with his Icons ally Angela and pushing Barrett into the next elimination round. That set up the episode's freeze-frame moment. Barrett claimed the next win and with it the right to name two opponents to face Haley in the last stage of the Gauntlet.
CBS cut to black before his picks were shown, leaving the exit undecided on air. Off-air feeds filled in the gap as Haley did not survive that showdown. Once the Gauntlet closed, the game reset to normal and Drew emerged as the new Head of Household, marking his first reign of the summer. He put LaTrice Verrett, Taylor Brown, and Yash Patel on the block. Late live-feed reports then show Yash taking the Power of Veto, giving him the shot to pull himself down.
Mallory's exit in the 1000th episode and the twist that shut down the feeds
Before the August 30 medieval episode, Big Brother had its huge milestone night on August 28, 2026, which was also the 1000th episode. Dee was Head of Household that week. She nominated Drew, Mallory, and Taylor for eviction after Lala won the veto and took herself off.
Everyone thought Drew was going home. Dee and Devens were secretly planning to get rid of him and didn't tell him. Drew had no idea he was the target. Then came the Blockbuster competition. It's a final chance for nominees to save themselves. Drew won it. He guessed the answer very quickly and saved himself at the last minute. That left Mallory and Taylor as the final two on the block.
On eviction night, the house voted out Mallory. The vote was 6 to 2. Most of the house, including Drew, voted to evict Mallory. Only Barrett and Melody voted to keep her. Mallory was the 7th person evicted this season. She was known as the "Pipe Queen."
At the end of the show, Julie announced a big twist. She said there would be no Head of Household or Veto next week, and that the live feeds would go off for three days. This twist led directly into the medieval episode that people witnessed on August 30, 2026.
