Josh Sanders was taken into custody again, this time on outstanding warrants related to traffic offences and an accusation of obstructing an officer. It was first reported by TMZ, and the authorities revealed that the singer was arrested on August 29, 2026, by the Kannapolis Police Department.
Following his arrest, Josh was transported to the Cabarrus County Jail in North Carolina. The warrants reportedly emerged from traffic violations and an allegation that he had obstructed or delayed a law enforcement officer.
The arrest comes while Sanders has been reportedly dealing with a heated custody dispute with his estranged wife, Kendra, over their three kids. The pair reportedly split in January 2026 and have since been battling over custody.
Court documents obtained by TMZ allegedly show Sanders pushing for custody, while Kendra has accused him of problematic behavior, including claims that he has had issues with alcohol and drove with their children while under the influence.

Josh alleged in the legal documents that Kendra had disrupted his ability to co-parent and had attempted to turn the kids against him. He further claimed that one of their children had expressed a desire to live with him.
On the other hand, Kendra had a separate story to tell. In her own filing, she said that Josh was an individual who was battling with his alcohol addiction and that he had wasted a few opportunities in his career that came after being on Team Reba on The Voice due to drinking. Kendra also accused him of driving under the influence with the children in the vehicle and of behaving aggressively in front of them.
Citing those accusations, Kendra argued that Josh should be limited to supervised visits. She stated that she should be granted primary custody because she can offer their children a better environment without the involvement of alcohol.
The custody conflict has reportedly led to additional legal troubles. Notably, Josh was taken into custody in April 2026 for allegedly breaching a temporary restraining order related to domestic violence. He also filed a trespassing complaint against Kendra in June 2026. The specifics of the restraining order are still unclear, though Josh has reportedly said it was linked to the custody disagreement.
