Meet the London-based Indian pair, Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha, who had a traditional Indian wedding at the Pyramids of Giza.
It was in September 2025, when a London-based Indian pair did what maybe a handful in history have managed to do. The couple exchanged wedding vows at one of the world's finest, sacred, and protected heritage sites-the Great Pyramids of Giza. Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha had created headlines after they got rare permission to host their private wedding party at the Great Pyramids of Giza. Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha have become the first Indian pair and the third to do the same globally.
When a London-based couple, Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha, got the permission to host their grand reception at the Great Pyramids of Giza, they created a legacy. When the couple stood at the base of the pyramids for the first time, they felt something different. It was overwhelming: the scale, the silence, the sense of eternity. That’s when Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha thought of getting married at the Great Pyramids of Giza. However, who is this London-based couple?
Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha's wedding was rooted in their heritage. The pair tied the knot against one of the jaw-dropping backdrops. According to a report by the Vogue, Dr. Monica Nayyar is a cosmetic dentist who is based in Central London. Her expertise includes aesthetic dental transformation and also smile design. Dr. Monica has studied from King's College London and received her degree in 2016. According to a report by SE1 Dental, Dr. Monica Nayyar also holds a certification from VSS Academy in Dental Implant Design.
Dr. Monica Nayyar's husband, Vivek Nandha, is the Vice President at JP Morgan Chase and had studied from the London School of Economics (LSE), according to his LinkedIn. Vivek has been known for his extensive global exposure and has travelled to over 125 countries. His journey in professional life gave him a rich understanding of international diplomacy and governance.
Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha had met in 2015 and started dating in 2020, exactly before the COVID-19 pandemic happened. The couple, before getting married at the pyramids, had a private picnic in the English countryside. Vivek, who is an investment banker, has travelled to more than 130 countries, while Monica, who is a dentist from Central London, met Vivek in 2015. The pair were students back then, and Vivek was studying at the London School of Economics. Monica, on the flip side, was at King's College. When the lockdown took place, the pair reconnected, and Monica said:
"We finally had the space to talk, to truly see each other."
Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha's first date was at the Costwolds, which showcased their effortless and real bond. Travelling was their love language, and both Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha together had explored more than 50 countries and discovered varied new landscapes. It was in 2024, post trekking to the Everest Base Camp, that the couple flew to Jaipur. It was on the rooftop of the grand Samode Palace, where all the fireworks had lit, Vivek proposed to Monica and asked her to marry him.
For Dr. Monica Nayyar, it was an emotional and magical moment when Vivek proposed to her. It had set the canvas for the monumental wedding. Vivek Nandha revealed to Vogue that the planning for their wedding had started a year in advance. This is because the couple wanted a wedding that honoured their Indian heritage, their British upbringing, and also showcased their love for world cultures. However, when the pair was at Giza, and both of them stared at the ancient wonder, they decided to lock their wedding dates from September 3, 2025, to September 6, 2025.
It was from September 3 to September 6, 2025, when Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha hosted a four-day wedding celebration. They had a private reception on the Giza Plateau along with the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx in the background. Dr. Monica Nayyar and Vivek Nandha had obtained approval from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. To get a permission to host a grand reception at the Great Pyramids is no less than a diplomatic mission. Vivek reportedly had worked earlier with the United Nations located in Cairo, and months of negotiations with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities had made the impossible dream completely possible. Vivek revealed not having any guide or blueprint. In his words:
"We were only the third couple in history to do this. Everything, from every nail to every structure, required individual approval.”
