Dave had reportedly played a significant role in the singer's public story and also helped him connect with his manager, Jon Landau. Bruce himself admitted that he got a ‘lifetime of support’ from Dave, especially considering how many times he got embroiled in scandals.
Bruce Springsteen had been accused of having an affair with a New Jersey housewife
A housewife named Ann Kelly used to live with her husband, a mortgage broker, and her two children in the suburbs of New Jersey. However, things in her life took a drastic turn when Bryce Springsteen entered her life back in 2005. Reports suggest that he would shower her with concert tickets and serenade her during his rehearsals. The singer even allegedly confessed to her that she was on his mind when he was touring.
Naturally, all these actions began making Ann fall in love with Bruce. According to Ann’s ex-husband, her relationship with the singer started with simple chitchat on the treadmills at a high-priced Red Bank gym in New Jersey. Before long, they started going on lunch dates and their relationship allegedly evolved to a full-on affair.
The illegitimate relationship came to light when Ann’s ex-husband, Arthur Kelly, who was with her for 17 years, filed for divorce. The divorce proceedings dragged on for a year, and in the court papers filed by him, Ann enjoyed her trust with Bruce Springsteen when Arthur was laid up in the hospital with heart trouble. The papers also mentioned that he and Ann initially tried marriage counselling sessions, where the singer was the main topic.
At that time, Arthur alleged that Ann told him Bruce would stand at the end of her treadmill whenever she used to run. The Thunder Road singer also allegedly told her that she had the “nicest ass” in the gym. Arthur claimed that after their workout, when the duo had their lunches at a nearby cafe, Ann would also let her daughters tag along. Court records said that the children got to know the singer so well that they began addressing him as Bruce.
Among Ann and Bryce Springsteen’s wide variety of chats, they would reportedly discuss politics. When the singer found out that Ann was conservative, he gave her two books that she could read. It seemed that Ann was equally smitten with Bruce. The papers said that she allegedly told her ex-husband’s mother multiple times how “it made her feel good that Bruce Springsteen was very interested in her.”
Things got to the point that Ann began taking the help of her friends to keep an eye on Bruce. One of her friends reportedly left her a voicemail following this, saying:
“I got your message, and there were no Bruce sightings at the gym today.”
Another one of the housewife’s friends informed her whenever Bruce Springsteen’s wife would be away. The court filing said, “She said that Patti will be out of town for the next two weeks.”
Ann Kelly said she did not have a sexual relationship with Bruce Springsteen
According to reports, Ann denied having a sexual relationship with the singer after the divorce filings came to light. However, it is believed the breaking point in her marriage with Arthur came when someone caught her kissing Bruce Springsteen in their gym’s parking lot. Furthermore, Arthur claimed that his ex-wife confessed to him that her “relationship with Bruce Springsteen was inappropriate.”
