Born and raised in Paris, Mathilde Favier actually came from a highly creative family. It is believed that her family also had deep connections to the fashion world. For instance, her half-sister, Victoria de Castellane, is Dior’s creative director of fine jewellery. Mathilde’s uncle, Giles Dufour, had a close working relationship with Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel.
Mathilde Favier entered the fashion industry when she was still in her early twenties. She first gained experience at Chanel before deciding to shift gears and move into public relations. Back in 2024, Mathilde authored Living Beautifully in Paris, a coffee-table book that explored the city through her perspective. It also talked about the homes, lifestyles, and stories of her influential circle. The book, which was published by Favier, showcases Mathilde Favier as not only a renowned fashion executive but also a person who was deeply connected to Parisian art, design, gastronomy, and culture.
During an interview in Paris, Mathilde revealed that the book was 2 years in the making. She had also claimed that it was a fortune teller who predicted she would write a book at some point in her life. While she laughed at the idea back then, she realised that the prediction was true when she got the call from the publishing house.
