Hayden Panettiere's mom, Lesley Vogel, has made the first public comment after the demise of her daughter. She stated that Brian Hickerson was the person who created issues in Hayden's life. The actress's family wanted him to end the relationship. Lesley Vogel, in an interview with NBC News, stated:
"This person in her life that we have been trying to get rid of for quite some time was with her at her death, and that was Brian Hickerson."
It is worth noting that Brian Hickerson hated Lesley Vogel as much as she hated her daughter's choice. Earlier in an interview with TMZ, Brian stated that Hayden's mom is by far one of the worst people he has ever met in his life. He cannot be with her as she is terrible. Brian and his brother, Zach, were at the scene when Hayden passed away at her South Carolina apartment.

Lesley Vogel further stated that her daughter, Hayden, was an amazingly talented person in many areas. She did agree that it is a struggle for young people who grow up in the entertainment industry. It is not unusual for them to, sadly, find the wrong path. Lesley did not blame Brian directly for Hayden's death but called him a bad influence. In her words:
"People, they feel pushed into things, even the managers and agents want to control them, and I think it becomes very difficult to be true to yourself, and I think Hayden sadly lost her way and I wish it were different."
Hayden Panettiere always had an on-and-off relationship with Brian Hickerson. The Scream actress entered into a relationship with Brian after she broke up with Wladimir Klitschko. The ex-pair have a child whom they named Kaya. Hayden and Wladimir were together from 2008 to 2018. Their daughter was born in 2014.
It was in August 2018 when Hayden and Brian were first linked. Both were seen holding hands at a restaurant in Los Angeles. She had a toxic relationship with Brian, who was charged with domestic violence. It was in 2022 when they broke up and then reconnected as friends. Hayden had stated:
"It was a very dark and complicated time in my life, but a lot of women go through what I went through, and I want people to know it’s okay to ask for help. I am trying to live in a place of understanding. I think [Brian] has done his time and was willing to get help. I think about the things I have done in my life that people forgave me for. Making amends is a really important thing that you learn in treatment. And it gives you a lot of inner peace.”
Brian Hickerson was arrested in the past on a domestic violence charge. This was a year after he and Hayden started dating. Brian was seen as a bad influence from the beginning, and her friends and family were never happy with the relationship. The actress had earlier alleged abuse related to the abuse claims and revealed that she was coming forward with the truth about what happened to her. She shared her story so that other women in abusive relationships get the help they need and deserve.
