It’s been more than two months since Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma got married in a private ceremony in Italy on December 11, 2017. But it still rings true to our ears as if it happened yesterday. All the credit, of course, goes to these two for being so open and never shying away from expressing their emotions and love for each other.
Something similar happened yesterday when India registered its first bilateral series win in South Africa playing against the home team and sweeping the series with a 5-1 win. Post the match, Virat Kohli, being the captain that he is, talked about his innings, the series win and his teammates. But what attracted us the most was the credit that he gave to his wife, Anushka Sharma. He said Anushka always inspires him and motivates him a lot. He was beautifully quoted as saying, “My wife has been keeping me motivated throughout, she deserves a lot of credit for this. She has been criticized a lot in the past, but she is one person who has kept me going throughout this tour and when times have been tough and I am really grateful for that.” Check out the video here:

Isn’t this amazing? Two people on the pinnacle of success, husband and wife, and admiring each other so genuinely. Earlier, when Virat was asked if he has been able to focus on the game immediately after his marriage, he said, “Not difficult at all, I was away for something (marriage) which is much more important. That is a period that will always remain special for both of us. And it’s not just Virat who is vocal about his love for wifey Anushka. Even the Pari actress is equally bold in expressing her love for her man, Virat. In fact, post their honeymoon in South Africa, when the India tour of South Africa started with the Test series, Anushka was present in the stands, cheering for Virat.

Recently, Anushka’s father, Col (retired) Ajay Kumar Sharma, had the best gift for the couple. When he attended a book launch event in Bandra, Mumbai, he got swayed by a collection of love poems written by Tejaswini Divya Naik, and immediately got is signed by the author. Isn’t that the sweetest gesture a father can make for his newly-wedded daughter and for his damaad?
