Stand-up comedian, Upasana Singh rose to fame with her role of a deaf-mute in the Anil Kapoor and Sridevi starrer film Judaai. She then got popular for her character of Bua (paternal aunt) in the comedy TV show, Comedy Nights with Kapil, particularly for her trademark dialogue "Bittu, Kaun hai ye aadmi?" (Bittu, who is this man?).
Not many of us know about the personal life of Upasana Singh. Upasana is married to Saath Nibhaana Saathiya actor, Neeraj Bharadwaj. But in October 2016, Upasana reported some trouble in her marital bliss of 9 years with her husband, Neeraj. Back then, Neeraj also admitted staying separately from his wife for four years and they weren’t on talking terms for nine months. As per the reports, Neeraj and Upasana were thinking about the divorce.
As per the reports, a source close to the couple said, "They were on talking terms even while staying separately, but there has been no communication since nine months. Though they tried to make the marriage work, the differences were irrevocable. Their relationship has been marred by compatibility issues and different expectations from each other. About his broken relationship, Neeraj retorted, "We weren't on the same page and I couldn't meet her expectations. We decided to part ways amicably. Upasana doesn't need me and I shouldn't hold her back." He further added, "We have worked together on numerous occasions. She is my senior, but her popularity or our professional lives have never posed a threat to our marriage. There are no ego clashes on that front. We are not made for each other." But now the good news is that Neeraj and Upasana have solved their differences and are back together. After spending some quality time with each other on their vacation in Gangtok, Upasana even visited her in-laws with her husband in Bihar. Talking about their marriage, Neeraj was quoted as saying, "We realised that in an attempt to give each other space, we drew apart. He further added, “Unfortunately, rather than talk to each other, we listened to them and that led to more differences. Which couple doesn't fight? But I misunderstood it as lack of love and decided that I can't force Upasana to be with me against her wish. All that was required was to communicate to sort out our differences. The biggest mistake was that we didn't clarify with each other because of our ego. To top it all, we were staying separately because it was convenient for us to travel to our respective sets. Everything is fine now and this marriage is for keeps.”
Upasana shared, "Every couple fights and so do we. It's no big deal. My husband is quite temperamental (laughs), possibly that's why he said what he did (about them contemplating divorce). He regretted what he said, but it was too late to clarify it. We could have sorted our issues amicably. I was more angry with him for speaking with the media about our personal issues and thinking of taking such a drastic step (divorce). My family and in-laws were quite disturbed after reading the news and I was busy fielding questions on my personal life." When asked if he is as romantic as he is temperamental, Upasana reverted, "Haan ji, bilkul. Romantic hone par hi toh phasaya hai inhone. He would sing for me and I fell for him (laughs)."
