Many Indian brides usually find it a little difficult to finalise ‘the perfect look’ for their wedding reception. For some brides, the confusion occurs between the choice of traditional and Western wear. On the other hand, some of them struggle with the problem of 'how to keep the look different from the wedding day while wearing a lehenga or a saree'.
Well, if you are also going through the same confusion, then how about taking some style inspiration from the reception day look of a few Bollywood brides? Be it their outfit, makeup, hairstyle, jewellery, or anything else, these stars from the tinsel town just got everything right. So, take a look at these divas, who looked like a million bucks on their wedding reception.
This blushing bride of Bollywood, Soha Ali Khan, was truly an epitome of elegance and beauty at her reception. Dressed in a gold and hot pink lehenga designed by Sanjay Garg, Soha teamed her outfit with a matching necklace and maang teeka. And, she looked simply stunning with simple hair style and minimal makeup.
The Hyderabadi princess, Dia Mirza, looked drop dead gorgeous in a Shantanu and Nikhil creation on her wedding reception. Her peach and bronze lehenga paired with gold blouse was a perfect example of grandeur showcased with subtlety. Pulled back hair, and contrasting diamond and emerald jewellery just made her whole look regal.
Be it post-wedding dinner in Mumbai, or dawat-e-walima in Delhi, Kareena Kapoor, quintessentially matched her status of being a Begum, in both the post-wedding functions. In the Mumbai party, she looked every bit like a royal queen in an embellished deep red lehenga. And, she sizzled in a pink gharara paired with traditional jewellery at her Delhi reception. Both the outfits were designed by Kareena’s favourite designer, Manish Malhotra.
Instead of wearing a traditional dress, Shilpa wore a fusion outfit at her reception. She looked nothing less than a beauty queen in a gold saree-cum-gown. The beautiful creation from Tarun Tahiliani gave her an amazing combination of traditional as well as contemporary look. A diamond and ruby necklace and a gold clutch completed her look pretty well.
Genelia looked absolutely stunning in a dark peach lehenga by designer duo, Falguni and Shane Peacock. Straight open hair and uncut diamond jewellery completed her look. Needless to say, the actress looked utterly radiant in this attire.
Esha Deol wowed everyone with her Swarovski-embellished mermaid-style pink lehenga, designed by Rocky S. The emerald and diamond necklace, and earrings along with a diamond maang teeka, did complete justice to her attire. Slightly curled hair adorned with a flower on one side also added to the flattering looks of this gorgeous lady.

For her reception, the telly world’s queen, Aamna Sharif, wore a dark blue velvet lehenga with pink dupatta. A Manish Malhotra creation, the lehenga had a bold bronze embroidery on it. And, the actress looked truly stunning as she completed her look with heavy Kundan jewellery.
While most of the brides opted for some bright coloured outfits for their wedding functions, Urvashi donned a white lehenga on her reception party. And, she looked amazing as she carried it so graciously. The golden work on the red velvet border and her blouse were just enough to add a flavour of festivities in her look. As the actress completed her look with nude makeup, heavy neckpiece, and delicate maang teeka, she was a perfect example of “less is more”.
Udita chose to wear a beautiful colour combination at her reception party. The actress donned a classic blue, white and red saree. In fact, her saree was in dual-tone as a part of it was in white as well. She looked truly elegant with smokey eye makeup and a maang teeka.
Well, she is not an actress, but belongs to one of the big shot Khan-daans of Bollywood. And, as she looked totally stunning on her wedding reception, we could not resist sharing Arpita’s look with you. Arpita donned a heavily embellished mint lehenga by Falguni and Shane Peacock. With the heavy outfit, she opted for delicate jewellery and looked simply classy.
Virat and Anushka had two wedding receptions, one in Delhi and one in Mumbai. Anushka looked like a dream on both the receptions. For the Delhi reception, Anushka chose to wear a red Banarasi saree, designed by ace couturier, Sabyasachi Mukherjee. She kept her look traditional and classy, with a neat bun, heavy uncut diamond jewellery, smokey eyes and nude lips. What grabbed eyeballs in her entire look was the red sindoor.
For her Mumbai reception, she decided to go glamorous and wore an ethereal lehenga in smokey grey, again designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. She kept her jewellery light, makeup minimal and hair open.
Bipasha wore a stunning Sabyasachi creation for her grand wedding reception. After wearing red on her wedding, Bipasha wore a stunning embellished lehenga with long, front-open choli in the shade of beige and gold. She kept her hair open with soft curls and put her red lipstick on! We loved the way she gave a hint of green colour to the otherwise monotone outfit, with her kundan jewellery.
Unlike many newly-married divas who like to keep it simple, Hazel chose to experiment with her reception outfit. Hazel wore a beautiful lehenga in peacock-inspired hues, designed by JJ Valaya. The stunning lehenga in blue and golden had intricate gota and pitta handwork done on it. She skipped heavy jewellery and wore only statement earrings with the outfit. She kept her makeup nude and hair opened in loose curls.
Just like Virat-Anushka, Zaheer and Sagarika also had two receptions, one in Mumbai and the other one in Pune. For the Mumbai reception, she wore an ivory-coloured Banarasi silk lehenga, designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, paired with heavy jadau jewellery. We loved the simplicity of the outfit, especially the colour. She kept her makeup subtle and hair tied up in a neat low-neck bun.
For the Pune reception, she chose the colour of love, red. She wore a stunning red lehenga, designed by Anita Dongre, pared it with uncut diamond jewellery and a maang teeka. What stole the show on both the receptions was her mangalsuatra!
After a secret wedding, Preity had a lavish reception in Mumbai for her industry friends. Preity wore a gorgeous single shoulder gown in red colour, designed by Manish Malhotra. She skipped heavy jewellery and wore statement earrings in diamonds. She wore red lipstick, while her entire makeup was natural. She kept her hair in a very vintage style, side swept with loose curls. Her entire look was classy, chic and minimalistic.
Not many brides opt for white for any of their wedding celebrations, but here is Urmila, breaking the rules. She wore a gorgeous white and golden ensemble, designed by her dear friend, Manish Malhotra. She wore a heavily embellished long anarkali, along with a heavily embellished skirt and dupatta. She wore only statement earrings and traditional green bangles (worn by Marathi brides). She kept her makeup subtle, by only accentuating her eyes and keeping lips nude.
Singer Tulsi Kumar had a star-studded reception in Mumbai and like all her wedding functions, this was also larger than the dreams. Tulsi wore an ethereal traditional gown in golden colour, with intricate embroidery in red colour. She paired her stunning outfit with Polki jewellery and a passa and maang teeka. We also loved her natural makeup and gorgeous hairdo.
Geeta looked like a fairy from the heaven in he royal blue reception outfit. She wore a gorgeous midnight blue lehenga with intricate mirror work and embellishments of Swarovski. The royal outfit was designed by Archana Kochhar. She teamed her reception outfit with diamond jewellery. She opted for smokey eyes and candy lips to accentuate her vintage-style lehenga.
Pastels were Asin’s pick for her grand wedding reception. She wore a beautiful Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla lehenga in pastels, keeping her look simple yet stunning. She wore a diamond necklace and diamond studs with her lehenga. Asin totally nailed the look, proving that ‘less is more’.
