Tabu Upset With Akshay Kumar Over Edited Out Scenes In 'Bhoot Bangla'? Priyadarshan Says, 'Why..'

2026 has given several good films to Bollywood, with one of them being the most anticipated, Bhoot Bangla. It kept fans waiting due to its numerous date changes, but finally hit theatres on April 17, 2026. One of the main reasons that had cinephiles excited for this film is because it brings back the combo of director, Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar after many years. Although Bhoot Bangla is shaping as a huge theatrical success, it has been plagued with notorious rumours like actress, Tabu being upset with Akshay over her chopped scenes in the film. Now, Priyadarshan has broken his silence on the same. 

Priyadarshan reveals if Tabu is upset with Akshay Kumar over her scenes being edited out of Bhoot Bangla 

Those who have watched Bhoot Bangla might already be aware that Tabu made a huge impact in the film thanks to her extended appearance. Despite this, an online platform recently reported that the actress was upset with the makers for allegedly chopping her role in the final edit of the film. What's even more surprising is that the main blame for the alleged editing was put on none other than the leading man, Akshay Kumar.

However, it is now confirmed that this was nothing more than a malicious rumour. On May 1, 2026, director, Priyadarshan slammed the rumours and revealed the truth while speaking to Pinkvilla. Rubbishing the claims, he said, “I don't know why and who is spreading the negative news?” According to him, as the director of Bhoot Bangla, it is he who gets to decide what to keep in the film and what not to. He added:

“The film is a big success, but yet, some are trying to spread negativity. Tabu is not upset at all. I have done eight films with her, and if she was upset, she would have told me. She is happy. Everything she shot is a part of the film.” 

Priyadarshan clarified that Akshay Kumar has never interfered with the editing of a film. He also said that as a filmmaker, he always does his work with honesty. In his words:

“Also, Akshay didn’t ask me to edit any part; he never does. I do my work with honesty, and every actor comes and sees the film before the release. Whoever is spreading such rumours should be ashamed.”

Will Bhoot Bangla have a sequel?

For those unaware, the horror-comedy starring Akshay Kumar is set in the fictional, ghostly town of Mangalpur. Even before Bhoot Bangla hit theatres, many had wondered whether it would become as successful as Bhool Bhoolaiya. Well, it is safe to say that the film is already proving them wrong at the box office. It is worth noting that Bhoot Bangla is a standalone film, featuring completely new characters and a story and has no connection to Bhool Bhoolaiya.

With fans already loving the film, there has been significant buzz surrounding the possibility of a Bhoot Bangla sequel. Unfortunately, as of May 2026, the makers have not yet confirmed any news regarding a second part of the Akshay Kumar starrer. However, we believe that the film's ending does leave room for Priyadarshan to come back with a Bhoot Bangla 2.

Bhoot Bangla brought back the hit combination of Priyadarshan, Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav. It is backed by Balaji Motion Pictures, and Cape of Good Films. Other notable stars in the film include Wamia Gabbi and Asrani. It is worth noting that Bhoot Bangla marked one of Asrani's last on-screen appearances. He will next be seen in another project starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan called Haiwaan.
