Today, on June 8, 2019, it is Sushmita’s Godchild, Aaliyah Sen’s birthday. The doting Godmother took to her official Instagram handle and posted a heartfelt birthday wish for her Godchild, Aaliyah. Sharing the following picture, Sush wrote, “Happyyyyyyy sweet 16th Birthday my beautiful Godchild @aaliyahsenb8 What an amazing young lady you’ve grown to be can’t believe already 16!!!!! May God bless you with ALL THAT YOUR HEART DESIRES & Always gift you what’s best for you!!!That baby smile hasn’t changed & uffffff what a smile it is!! Earlier, on one of Aliyah's birthday, Sush (as her loved ones call her) had taken to her official Twitter handle and shared a picture of the birthday girl with her mom. Here’s what she had then written, “Here is the b'day princess Aaliyah with her mom!!!:)) both such precious people!!God Bless them with every happiness!” In another tweet, she had written, “Aaliyah is my Godchild n my best friend Neelam's daughter:)) ur b'day wishes for little Aaliyah who turned 10 2day will be cherished 4ever.” Checkout:
In a media interaction recently, Sushmita had once shared why she left movies after adopting her younger daughter, Alisah, "I know that people say that your best years are your youthful years where you can do films and you look younger etc. I asked myself, 'If I don't do films right now and I focus on this, will I regret it? And if I choose to not be with Alisah and go do films, which one would I regret more?' It was a no-brainer for me." She had further added, "It's not just seeing their first step or first word, that I missed out for Renee. It's their personality development, to witness who they are becoming. In the same interview, she had also shared that when she adopted her elder daughter, Renee, her view to motherhood was a little different. Sush was quoted as saying, "I thought that I have to keep making money, keep paying the bills. My approach to motherhood with Renee was more like a father - the provider. I didn't have the time to be the provider and the nurturer because there was just so much work to do. I literally had her in a sack, with Chi Chi (Govinda) and David Dhawan holding her on the sets, and I'm giving my shot! I worked like that because I wanted to stay close to her, the best I could.”
And when for the second time she had embraced motherhood, she was sure that the same would not happen with Alisah, "I wanted to see her through her formative years. After she turns six, I can look back at working. If my career in films is done by then, so be it. I'll get into business or I'll do something else. But this, I cannot miss." Talking about being a single mother, Sushmita was quoted as saying, "Being a single mother is not easy. It's very romantic, but its not easy. Yes, that's true (went to court for my first daughter). I was 24 years old and I had been trying since I was 22 to become a mom by the process of adoption. And they didn't allow it. It took us a while and we got the custody for my baby."
She also added that while it was still easier to adopt Renee, adopting Alisah was the real struggle. Sushmita had remarked, "But the second child was actually a bigger court fight than the first one. Because in India, the rules said that you could not adopt a daughter after a daughter. You have to adopt a son. And I wanted to adopt a daughter, so 10 years I fought and then my Alisah came.
