Former Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen has been a living inspiration for so many people and especially countless women, who look upto her as their perfect ideal. Apart from her lifting the Miss Universe crown as well as her successful acting career, she had made the country proud when at the mere age of 24, she adopted her daughter, Renee at a time when no single woman was rewarded with the rights of a foster child. Later on, after a few years, she adopted her younger daughter, Alisah. Since then, she has been a happy and dutiful mommy to her little angels, who love her unconditionally.
In an earlier interview with Rajeev Masand, Sushmita Sen had candidly opened up on recalling her daughter, Renee’s reaction ahead of her 18th birthday when she informed the latter about her rights to know all the information about her biological parents. Moreover, Sushmita also revealed how she made Renee understand that she could even decide to seek them out and if she does so, the former will be more than happy to help her out. Spilling beans about her daughter’s reaction to this revelation, the actress mentioned:
“I told her that we don't know if they have a biological parents name in there right but there is information in that envelope which is only rightfully yours after you turn 18, right, so I didn't want to give her the wrong information because I don't want her to go there and get her heart broken because they don't have that information about a lot of kids. But I told her I'll take you whenever you're ready we must go and we get it so she said but why do you want me to go find out, so I said, I am saying you have a right, now that you are an adult to go if you want to go, I'll take you. So, she gave it a bit like a moment's pause and said, honestly, no I don't want to find out. I told her, if you do let me know.”

Going further in the same interview, Sushmita continued about how, when her daughter, Renee turned 18, she dutifully reminded the latter again, about her right as an adult in knowing who her biological parents were. But she was utterly surprised to learn that Renee was absolutely disinterested in doing the needful. Mentioning how she would feel a tad bit happier if her daughter would actually learn the whole truth that might help her to live with a better consciousness, she mentioned:
“By the time she was 18, she was looking at me like what's your problem, why do you want to do all these things, I don't want to know. But yeah, I still have this, I don't know, I just I think, I would feel a lot happier knowing that my daughter is secure enough to want to see it, yeah she should see it right you know because there could be information in it that might help her you know for any subconscious thoughts that might have lived with her.”
Sushmita Sen has been a hands-on mommy for her girls, Renee and Alisah right from the very beginning. She is extra-protective towards them and has always ensured that they don’t feel alienated or, in fact, rejected by any means. Speaking on the same lines, in an interview with Rajeev Masand, Sushmita revealed how she has always made sure that her daughters never feel left out or rejected by any means. In her words:
“I have done my level best with both my kids for them to never suffer the feeling of rejection because I knew that that is the one feeling they would probably be growing up subconsciously where that someone rejected me, even if I accepted, that someone rejected me. I have done my absolute best to ensure that hasn't happened but you never know sure so if you feel that I have that and I'm comfortable finding out, you should exercise it that's the way I see it.”

Sushmita Sen adopted her baby girl, Renee in the year 2000 and had set a high-benchmark for every woman out there to follow. However, the decision was not taken overnight and it was at the brink of her life-changing moment that the former Miss Universe entertained a nervous fret. Recalling the same in an interview with Femina, Sushmita recalled getting cold feet right before she adopted her first child. She mentioned:
"The night before I brought her home, I was throwing up all through the night - nervous as a bride. That night, I had decided I was going to be a mother - but I didn’t know-how. I kept asking how will I do this… Now, everything works."
