Shahid Kapoor is juggling time for the promotions of his film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, preparations for the Arjun Reddy remake and spending time with wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor. Shahid is trying hard to wrap up his professional commitments to take paternity leave when Mira delivers their baby. From soothing her foot cramps at the middle of the night to taking her on romantic dinner dates, Shahid is leaving no stone unturned to pamper Mira in her last days of pregnancy.
On September 4, 2018, Mira shared a glimpse of their dinner date, as an Insta story, with her ‘Bae’ Shahid. And just like a true gentleman that Shahid is, he was seen carefully escorting his pregnant wife Mira to the car, amidst the flock of paparazzi. He held tight Mira until she sat safely inside the car. While Shahid was sported in a white tee shirt paired up with a jacket, Mira looked radiant in a navy blue off-shoulder dress with her hair tied a tight ponytail. And needless to say, her pregnancy glow was hard to be missed!
As per a Bollywood Life report, a friend close to the couple shared that Mira is due this week and the couple is all set to embrace parenthood once again. The source said, “Shahid is spending all the time with Mira. In a recent interview, Mira spoke about how Shahid is the pillar of support during her pregnancy. She stated, “Shahid is an extremely loving and supportive husband. It comes naturally to him. The smallest things he does make me smile and feel so loved, like when I wake him up in the middle of the night with a foot cramp and he soothes it. Or how hands-on he is with Misha and has really made sure she doesn’t feel the lack of my attention and presence, especially in these last few weeks where I can’t pick her up or play very much with her. It’s everything put together. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to walk beside me through this journey.”
Sharing his excitement of becoming a father again, Shahid expressed, “Having a child is the most amazing feeling. And we are fortunate that we are having a second one so soon, so [I am] feeling happy and blessed about that. Family is always a big reason to work even harder. When you come back home to your family [after work], it’s a great feeling.” He further added, “Now, we will have two to deal with so that’s an added responsibility. Till now, we have been parents to only one child but from hereon, it will be about balancing [time and effort]. Mira and I are very excited to discover that journey.”
Talking about his paternity leaves to Mid-Day, Shahid Kapoor was quoted as saying, "During Misha's birth [in 2016], I took a couple of months off. This time too, I was negotiating to take a month-long break, but things didn't work out. I will get only a week off from work. It is too short a duration, but such are the circumstances." He further said, "I am self-employed, so I think I have more freedom [to take leaves as per my convenience]. If I don't want to work for a certain period, I can do that. Having said that, life is all about finding the right balance."
Praising his ‘little missy’ Misha, Shahid went on to say, “Misha is a lovely little kid. Though she is just two years old, she has the understanding of a four-year-old. She doesn’t throw any tantrums, especially when I am looking after her. I think Misha has a great sense of dance, we started dancing together when she just started standing up!” Shahid also believes that fatherhood has had a defining impact on his life. He remarked, “As soon as I became a father, the deconstruction of my life began. When I was single, I was so different. When I got married, I had to become sharif (respectable).
