One of everyone’s favourite celeb couples, Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik, are on cloud nine these days. Sania and Shoaib’s happiness knows no bounds as they are all set to welcome a new member into their family. For the ones who have been living under the rocks all this while, Sania Mirza is expecting her first baby with Shoaib after enjoying eight years of blissful marital life. In a recent media interaction, Sania Mirza opened up about having a girl child instead of a baby boy. Well, mommy-to-be Sania recently attended a UN Women India's launch of #MujheHaqHai campaign event and shared her thoughts about having a baby girl or a baby boy. She revealed now that she is pregnant, people come up to her and pray that I should be blessed with a baby boy. Here’s what she said, “Now I’m pregnant and every time I meet someone, the first thing that people say is they would pray that I am blessed with a baby boy but I request them not to do this and if they want to pray for me, pray for a girl child instead, why are you praying for a boy child? That is the sort of mindset that we grow up with consciously or subconsciously.”
She further shared that people used to feel pity for her for not having a brother. She said, “I come from a family of two girls and till today even after everything that I have achieved or try to achieve, when people meet me, they ask, “Do you not have any brother?” and when I answer “No”, they say “oh” (arey). She also went on to add that the gender of her child won’t matter to her at all. Rather than this, she would make sure that her kid treats everyone equally. Sania Mirza retorted, "Whether I have a baby boy or girl, it doesn't matter. What matters is that I raise my child to think of themselves as equal to everyone else.” In fact, she also revealed that her husband, Shoaib wants a baby girl.
