Raveena Tandon and Govinda happened to be one of the most hit jodis in Bollywood back during the 90s. The duo have worked on some of the most hit films, such as Andaz Apna Apna, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Akhiyon Se Goli Maare, Dulhe Raja among so many others. They shared a strong friendship, and an unmissable chemistry, that was also rumoured to be a hint for being in a serious relationship. While neither Govinda nor Raveena ever spoke about it, they continue to remain best friends even today.
In one of her earlier interactions with Film Companion, Raveena Tandon had opened up about the bonding that she shared with Govinda. Spilling the beans on it, she recalled a particular moment when she was going through some testing times concerning her personal life. She mentioned that during one of her film shoots in Switzerland with Govinda, she learnt the bad news from him and was totally heartbroken. However, she never failed to forget how like a true friend, Govinda stood beside her like a pillar of strength, held her hands and comforted her. She mentioned:
“I remember I was in Switzerland, shooting with Chi Chi for something and there was some turmoil going on in my life, and he came and said, did you hear? I said, what? He broke some news to me. He said, I heard and I thought I should be the first person to come and tell you. He just held my hand and sat there while I was in stunned silence. He just sat there and said, himmat rakh, humlog hai na sab, saath mein hai na.”

Apart from being often linked-up with Govinda, Raveena was also in a serious relationship with her frequent co-star back in the day, Akshay Kumar. Their affair was one of the hottest buzz all over Tinseltown and in fact, they were even engaged. However, since destiny had other plans, Raveena and Akshay broke up and they ended up calling off their engagement. This move had definitely shattered Raveena, since it also brought about a tough time for her. Moreover, she was rendered jobless at the same time. Speaking about the same, Raveena, in one of her older interviews became teary-eyed and said:
“The time when my engagement broke I was jobless. I couldn’t see where I was going ahead. So I would go for long drives because I would have sleepless nights.”
Raveena was surely one of the most-loved actresses in the 90s. Her beauty was unparalleled, and people were simply mesmerised by her. Nevertheless, she also received a fair share of criticism, and she was particularly a victim of body shaming. In an interview with Smita Prakash, Raveena had recalled often being a target of gossip writers, and was levied with mean comments over her on-screen sensuality and apparent plum figure.

Apart from being a fabulous actress, Raveena is also a doting mother to his children, Pooja Chhaya, Rasha and Ranbirvardhan. For the unversed, quite early on in her life, Raveena had adopted her daughters, Pooja and Chhaya, when she was barely 21. While this move of hers was hailed by many, there was also a certain section of people, especially gossip tabloids who criticised her over the same. As a result, she had to hide her decision of adoption for the longest time. She spoke about it in one of her previous interviews with Siddharth Kannan and said:
“Initially, it was that era of tabloidism and yellow dirty journalism. There were these hardcore writers who were just writing nasty stuff and headlines were nasty. In those days, a scandal could be created out of anything. When I did adopt the girls, initially, I did not talk about them at all, till they passed their 10th standard and after that, they started hanging out with me on my shoots. Then, everyone started asking, ‘Who are these girls?’ And I would start telling them this is how it is."
