Patriots' Christian Gonzalez Opens Up About Mike Vrabel And Dianna Russini Buzz, 'Aren't Going To..'

New England Patriots' head coach, Mike Vrabel, has faced significant backlash from both the media and netizens since cosy images of him with Dianna Russini were released. The shots, which were reportedly taken on March 28, 2026, at a luxury resort in Sedona, Arizona, generated significant buzz about the duo being involved in a secret affair while still being married to their respective spouses. 

Recently, another set of photos published by TMZ and Page Six from their alleged past dates brought the story back into the spotlight. Additionally, fans became convinced of Mike and Dianna's alleged extramarital affair with one of the photos showing Mike seemingly kissing Dianna. Amid this, Patriots player, Christian Gonzalez, decided to remain loyal and backed his head coach, Mike.

Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding Mike Vrabel and his alleged affair with Dianna Russini, the New England Patriots organisation and its players continue to show their support for their head coach. For those unaware, NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell has already confirmed that Mike isn't going to face any punishment. According to him, the whole ordeal was a “personal matter”, and that's where he wanted to leave it at. Later, Mike revealed that he had spoken with the players without divulging any further details. 

Recently, while appearing at a charity softball event hosted by Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, Devonta Smith, Patriots' cornerback, Christian Gonzalez spoke to the media about Mike Vrabel. While he did not go into the specifics about what Mike said to the team when he addressed them, he made it clear that he would back his coach. Christian said:

“We aren’t going to speak on what we talked about inside the building, but that's my coach. That's who I go out there and play for. He’s proven what he can do as a coach. That’s my guy, and I ride behind Vrabes any time of the day."

Like we already mentioned, the New England Patriots organisation have already said that they are fully in support of Mike Vrabel. Before the 2026 NFL Draft started, they said:

“The New England Patriots fully support Mike Vrabel’s decision to prioritise his family first, as well as his own well-being. Mike has been open with us about his commitment to being the best version of himself for his family, this team and our fans, and we respect the steps he is taking to follow through on that commitment.”

A couple of days after this, Patriots quarterback, Drake Maye revealed his loyalty to Mike. He said, “We're here for coach, we love coach.” According to him, while they know Mike is dealing with some stuff off the field and out of the coaching world, they will still be there for him. Drake further said that he knows Mike is going to come back. 

Robert Spillane and Hunter Henry have also echoed a similar message. They emphasised that despite the constant backlash and scrutiny that Mike has been subjected to, he has kept the Patriots team focused solely on football. Robert said, "Coach coaches football, and he keeps the main thing the main thing.” Although Mike is dealing with personal issues, he said that when they are in the building, all they talk about is football. Meanwhile, Henry, looking at the broader picture, said:

“Every year’s a new year. We’re trying to build this team, we’re trying to come together.”
