It's been nearly a month that Dianna Russini has been hogging the limelight due to her alleged affair with married man, Mike Vrabel, who is also the head coach of the New England Patriots. Amid the scandal, recently Dianna, the former NFL insider of The Athletic, grabbed attention when she got involved in a car accident. Later, multiple reports suggested that she heroically saved an elderly man and his dog; however, an analyst slammed her and claimed that she created a fake story to improve her image.
The controversy began a few days ago, when Dianna Russini got involved into a car accident, where she rescued an elderly man and his dog from a flipped Jeep in New Jersey. While early reports portrayed her as a hero, it was later revealed that Dianna did not help the man. An eyewitness shared that it was another bystander who rescued the man, meanwhile Dianna just stepped in to save the dog.

Soon after all the details came out, Dianna Russini faced a lot of backlash from netizens. Multiple people started questioning the credibility and Dianna's motives. Amid that, an NFL analyst named Dontay Atkinson slammed the situation and described it as a 'shit show'. Further, he suggested that Dianna may have used the scene to fix her public image. Sharing his views on the same, Dontay wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"Diana Russini is in the middle of an F5 tornado of B.S. and subterfuge. That tornado has pulled Mike Vrabel, ESPN, a dozen other reporters, several farm animals, a tractor, seven mobile homes and all of the NFL’s patio furniture into the vortex. What in the world is this now? A fake Jeep rescue story designed to rebuild her public persona? I’m sure Patriots fans are on their feet clapping already. What an absolute shit show."

For those who do not know, the scandal began in early April 2026, when Page Six shared a series of cosy photos of Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini. The photos generated a lot of buzz and netizens raised questions on their professional and personal lives. Later, Page Six shared a video, reportedly from 2020, in which Mike and Dianna could be seen kissing each other. This convinced users that the two had an extramarital affair for the past six years.

As the photos sparked debate online, Dianna Russini resigned from her position as the NFL insider of The Athletic. In her resignation letter, Dianna explained that she has done her job with professionalism and she has decided to step down from her position to avoid all the gossip. Meanwhile Mike Vrabel is still the head coach of the Patriots. He has been getting support from the players. Recently, Drake Maye received backlash from netizens for supporting Mike Vrabel.
