It was in May 2018, when we were digitally enjoying Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding, that a post by Karan Johar had taken the internet by a storm. “The look of love!!! The marriage of eternal happiness!!!! #nehaangad CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! @nehadhupia @angadbedi” – it said with a ‘just married’ picture of Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi! On May 10, 2018, the two ‘best friends’ had decided to ‘pull each other’s leg forever’ and had taken the chaar laava (four pheras) in an Anand Karaj ceremony. 2018 had brought a new beginning for Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi as they had stepped into the next level of their relationship. But that was not just it. From Mr and Mrs, Angad and Neha soon became parents to a lovely angel, whom they named Mehr Dhupia Bedi. After 6 months of marriage, on November 18, 2018, Neha and Angad stepped into the parenthood phase together with the arrival of Mehr and since then, their lives have been revolving around the little one.
For Neha Dhupia’s 39th birthday, her hubby, Angad Bedi had whisked her and their soon-to-be-one, Mehr Dhupia Bedi, away to spend some ‘quality time’ and celebrating the special day. Taking some time off their hectic schedules, Neha and Angad had headed off to the Maldives for a mini-vacation with Mehr and have been treating their fans with the glimpses from the same. As a birthday special, Neha posted a ‘twinning’ picture with her baby girl, and wrote, “The best gift I could have ever asked for @mehrdhupiabedi (also thank you @payalsinghal for twinning n winning outfits).”
To mark Neha Dhupia’s 39th birthday, Angad Bedi had written a heartfelt wish for his darling wife, which could be read as “Happy birthday to you my beloved. I thank the almighty every day for bringing you into my life. You are my happy place. Waheguru mehr kare!!! I asked for one but I got two of you... Mehr is your reflection and hope she grows up to be like you. Have the best year ever. I love you. @nehadhupia.” To which, Neha had replied, “Thank you my love... I asked for 1 and I got 100 in you @angadbedi.”
On July 18, 2019, Mehr Dhupia Bedi had turned 8-months old and to commemorate the same, her star parents, Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi had posted an ethereal family moment of the awesome threesome. Neha had also shared a partial glimpse of her daughter, Mehr, on her 8-month birthday. Sharing the picture, she had written, "8 months with our little miss sunshine... @mehrdhupiabedi.” And Angad had captioned his post as “Feels... Us... 8months of holding these cute little hands @mehrdhupiabedi @nehadhupia.”
And when Mehr Dhupia Bedi had turned 9-months old, Neha Dhupia had taken to Instagram and had posted a partial glimpse of baby Mehr Dhupia Bedi, seated on a table, wearing a dungaree with two fountain baby ponytails! The doting mommy had captioned the picture as “Fountainhead of Love #9months @mehrdhupiabedi.”
During the International Breastfeeding Week 2019, Neha Dhupia had taken an initiative, #FreedomToFeed, wherein she had revealed her breastfeeding experiences with baby Mehr and her journey of motherhood. Discussing the pros and cons of the motherhood journey and how she is blessed to have a great support system with her, Neha had said a lot in her video on Instagram. In the video, Neha Dhupia had started with the part and parcel of the motherhood journey and had elaborates on the same. She had said, “It's been a little over 8 months since we embarked on this rollercoaster. And there is no better day than today and no better time than now to talk about how truly grateful I am for all the joy that the little one has brought into our lives. You know, I’m not going to lie, motherhood hasn’t been easy. The sleepless nights, sometimes you’re feeling like a mere food source, but the blues are all part of the package. I mean it’s amazing how the mommy brain works on autopilot, you know, resting the baby’s head just right when you’re nursing her or knowing when she is done and of course becoming the burping expert in the world.”
Speaking about the challenges of breastfeeding and sharing a flight instance with Mehr Dhupia Bedi, Neha Dhupia had continued, “One of the most challenging for me was exclusively breastfeeding Mehr for six months and I still continue to nurse her. I mean it makes you realise the importance of a support system and sometimes the lack of it. For instance, I remember I was travelling with her once all by myself and I was on a flight and I knew that she needed a feed because I could hear her cry and as a mum you know exactly what your baby wants. I remember standing up in the plane, in the cabin and telling everyone, ‘Listen, I’ll be using washroom for about 15 minutes and if anybody would like to use it before me.’ Everyone knew I was taking my daughter in and what was actually going on. I remember taking her on me and the only thing I was looking up and just hoping that the seatbelt sign doesn’t go on before my little one finishes her feed. I don’t understand the consciousness behind it and why we need to be apologetic for doing something so right. But I guess, it’s all a part of the package.”
Concluding her video on a beautiful note with acknowledging the support system around her and ending it by talking about her initiative, Neha Dhupia had remarked, “I really feel that we need a little more noise around it. You know, speaking of the support system that I was earlier, I was very fortunate to have a fantastic one. Whether it was, you know, my parents, Angad, you know, people at home, the support staff I have. People at work, they’d been amazing. My friends and of course, all the mommies I know, the amount of love and support they gave me, including my favourite one, my mum. I know I’m not alone, and on the onset of international breastfeeding week, I would love to encourage all mums whether breastfeeding or not to share their story. Sharing the same video on Instagram, the doting husband, Angad Bedi had written, "Freedom to Feed!! An initiative by my wife...
