After retirement, he became a football manager and the head coach of PSG. In his personal life, he has been married to Elena Cullell for around three decades. However, things weren’t very smooth for the head coach and his wife as in 2019, they lost their youngest daughter, Xana. Who is Luis Enquire’s wife, Elena Cullell?

While Luis Enquire has always been in the spotlight, his wife, Elena Cullell has somehow managed to live a private life away from media attention. Even though Elena is enjoying the best phase of her life ever since she met Luis, do you know that she comes from a modest background? Well, reportedly, her father worked in the leather-goods industry and her mother came from a local lineage.

If a report by AS News is to be believed, Elena was born in Catalan family, and she was brought up in Barcelona. For her education, before moving to the United States, she studied at Lycee Francais Bon Soleil in Gava. Reportedly, she also has a degree in economics. It is worth mentioning that there is no information on what Elena is currently doing in her professional world for a living. 

Luis Enquire and Elena Cullell have been together for nearly three decades

If reports are to be believed, Luis Enquire and Elena Cullell's love story began in the mid-1990s. Reportedly, they met in Barcelona after the former footballer chose to leave Real Madrid and join FC Barcelona in 1996. During that time, Elena was working as a ground hostess in Barcelona. This was their first meeting.

Slowly and gradually, their bond grew and the couple fell in love with each other. It is worth mentioning that there is not much information about their dating period. After nearly a year, in 1997, Luis and Elena tied the knot in Barcelona at the Santa Maria del Mar church. Their intimate wedding ceremony was attended by only family and close ones.

It's been nearly three decades that Luis Enquire and Elena Cullell have been together. In their long married life, the duo has welcomed three children named Pacho, Sira and Xana. Reportedly, their daughter, Sira has a successful career as an equestrian. Over the years, Luis Enquire has often spoken about his family and children; however, in 2019, Luis and his wife met with the worst accident of their life as they lost their nine-year-old daughter, Xana. 

When Luis Enquire opened up about his daughter, Xana’s death

For those who do not know, Luis Enquire and Elena Cullell welcomed a daughter, Xana in 2010. However, their time together was short-lived as in 2019, she passed away due to bone cancer. It is worth noting that the little angel fought with cancer for nearly five months. When Xana was diagnosed with bone cancer, Luis Enquire had stepped down from his position of head coach to focus on her treatment. When she passed away, he penned an emotional note, which could be read as:

"We will miss you lots, but we will remember you every day of our lives with the hope that in the future we will meet again."

Luis Enquire’s career decision have often been influenced by his wife

In the past three decades, Luis Enquire’s wife, Elena has been his biggest support system and cheerleader. She has always stood beside him and supported him though good and bad times. On the other hand, Luis’ career decision has often been influenced by his wife and family.

When he retired from playing, his wife, Elena supported him. In 2011, a major turning point came when he had to leave his home to be the manager of AS Roma. However, in 2014, when he was offered to be the head coach of FC Barcelona, he easily agreed because that would bring him closer to his family. He once shared that his decision was influenced by his wife, who was unable to live away from Luis.

Apart from this, Luis Enquire has often spoken fondly about his wife. In 2017, when Luis revealed his plans to step down as the head coach, he jokingly spoke about his wife and explained that he would return back soon as his wife, Elena would not tolerate him at home for a long time. If reports are to be believed, Luis Enquire was quoted as saying:

"My wife would never tolerate that weather. I don't know what is going to happen in the future but I know my wife won't be comfortable with me at home for two to three years. Maybe she’ll now accept the British weather if that's the alternative, because she won't be happy with me being at home for three years, for sure."
