Aamir Khan is hands down one of the most talented actors in the Hindi film industry. Over the years, the actor has been winning the hearts of cinema fanatics with his acting mettle. He has provided his fans with some outstanding movies. Talking about his professional life, the actor will be next seen in the movie, Time Machine. Apart from his professional front, Aamir's personal life often grabbed eyeballs. Aamir was first married to Reena Dutta, and they have two kids, Ira and Junaid. After 16 years of being together, Aamir and Renna called it quits.
It was in 2002 when Aamir Khan first met Kiran Rao on the sets of Lagaan. And in 2005, the duo tied the knot. Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao once hailed as the much-loved couple in Bollywood, and it was in 2011 that they welcomed their son, Azad, via surrogacy. Moreover, in 2021, Aamir and Kiran left their entire fanbase heartbroken when they announced their separation. Although the couple is now divorced, they are carrying on a cordial bond. Time and again, Kiran has opened up about her bond with Aamir. In a recent interview, the filmmaker revealed how they first broke out the news of their divorce to their son, Azad.Â

In a recent interview with NDTV, Kiran mentioned that both she and the actor were worried about the outcome of their divorce as, generally, this is tough for the kids to take. She further added that the plus point was that they did this during lockdown, which gave them time to be private and do it together. Sharing that they kind of held each other's hands through this tough phase, Kiran stated:
"We got lucky also as we did it during the lockdown and we were very much together when we had this conversation and so it wasn’t like oh we are rushing off to school, or we are rushing off to work and discussing at night. It gave us that time to be private about it and also gave us the time to do it together. So, we kind of held each other’s hands through this process. I’m grateful for that break which COVID gave us for this one reason.â€
In the same interview, Kiran Rao revealed that she has to drag Azad to the movies as the little one doesn't like watching films. Kiran said that she, Aamir, and their son all spend quality time together, often including sports like pickleball and swimming, as well as spending time with Azad's grandparents, among others. Talking more about the same, Kiran mentioned:
“When we get together, often it's sports. It’s like playing pickleball or going for a swim. Spending time with his grandparents is what we do together. Boardgames, that is what we do a lot as a family.â€
In an old interview with Zoom, Kiran Rao mentioned that she not only got married to Aamir Khan but also bonded with a family, and she continues to love each of the family members. Citing an example, Kiran added that she loves Aamir's mom, Zeenat Hussain, so much that the latter continues to be the filmmaker's 'apple of the eye'. She also gave an example of how they all enjoyed their hearts out and planned Ira Khan's wedding all together, despite parting ways with Aamir.Â
For the unversed, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta's daughter, Ira Khan, tied the knot with Nupur Shikhare a few months ago. During the pre-wedding festivities, Aamir, Azad, and Kiran gave a soulful performance as they all sang together, and it was simply heart-melting.
