In a video shared by a paparazzo account, Kajol and Karan Johar were spotted catching up at Manish Malhotra’s latest Bridal Couture Show, which took place on July 20, 2023. Sitting in the front row, Kajol and Karan Johar stole the spotlight with their camaraderie as they were seen engrossed in deep conversation. The viral video showed Kajol making goofy expressions while teasing Karan, and it clearly depicted the happiness and affection she felt after meeting her bestie.

As the video went viral, Kajol's fans couldn’t stop gushing over the sight of her close bond with her best friend, Karan Johar. However, a section of netizens didn't seem pleased with the actress' behaviour at the event and trolled her for the same. While one user penned, "Stop over acting please.. bus ye pata chal jaaye ke camera hae saamne.. best friends only need to understand the mild expressions while chatting not like this full blown face yoga", another one commented, "Over acting and over rated actress."
Kajol and Karan Johar's friendship is over three decades old now, and time and again, they have proved that they're one another's secret keepers. In an episode of the comedy show, The Kapil Sharma Show, Karan Johar recalled his first meeting with Kajol during the premiere of the movie, Henna. Revealing Kajol’s crazy fangirling moment for her crush, Akshay Kumar, KJo said:
“Poorey premier mein woh Akshay Kumar ko dhoondh rahi thi aur main unka sahara ban gaya. Secretly, main bhi shayad Akshay Kumar ko dhoondh raha tha. Hum chal pade; Akshay Kumar toh nahin mile, hum ek doosre ko mil gaye.”

Kajol and Karan Johar have been each other’s friends through thick and thin, and their friendship set an example for others. However, way back in 2016, the besties had a severe fallout with one another. It so happened that Karan Johar’s film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn’s film, Shivaay, were released on the same day which led to a massive clash at the box office. Moreover, it also left a crack in Karan’s long friendship with Kajol, making the duo develop hard feelings for one another. In his autobiography, Karan opened up about that particular moment in his life and wrote:
“I wouldn’t like to give her a piece of myself to her at all because she’s killed every bit of emotion, I had for her for 25 years. I don’t think she deserves me. I feel nothing for her anymore.”
