Bollywood actress, Kajol is undoubtedly one of the most successful actresses in the industry. However, her mother, Tanuja's contribution can never be denied in providing the best upbringing to her daughters, Kajol and Tanishaa Mukerji. Kajol Devgan shares a beautiful relationship with her mother, Tanuja, and some unseen snippets from their personal life prove the same. From hosting birthday bashes for her daughter to enjoying the company of her grandchildren, Tanuja is a happy mommy and grandmother now.
However, in the initial years of her daughter, Kajol's upbringing, the beautiful actress, Tanuja, was very strict. She believed in punishing and beating her children left and right in order to raise them correctly. On the contrary to her daughter, Kajol is a chilled-out mommy and is pretty close to her kids, Nysa Devgan and Yug Devgan. However, Kajol credits her mother's strictness for making her what she is today.

In a 1999 interview with journalist, Karan Thapar, Kajol had revealed that her mother, Tanuja had believed in the theory that once you spare the rod, you spoil the child. Therefore, she was pretty strict with her. The Ishq actress had said, ''I was loved, but I wasn’t spoilt. My mother believed in the saying, spare the rod, spoil the child. She was pretty strict, so I got beaten by badminton rackets, dishes. I’ve had quite a few things thrown at me.''
Sharing one instance from her 13th birthday, Kajol had told the journalist that her mother, Tanuja, had asked her to correct her behaviour. And after that, her mother had promised to never raise her hand. In her words, ''I will never raise a hand on you again, but if I have to correct you, I will. But I will never make you feel like a child, today you are a teen and an adult. And from that day onwards, I took responsibility for my own actions.”

A few months back, an adorable picture from Kajol's childhood had surfaced on the internet. The monochrome photo had featured her mother, Tanuja and Kajol in her childhood days. In the adorable photo, we could see baby Kajol sitting cutely in her mommy, Tanuja's lap. The yesteryear star, Tanuja, had looked gorgeous and could be seen wearing a bell-sleeves white ensemble.
In an episode of Netflix’s Behensplaining, Kajol had opened up on her parents' divorce and had revealed that it did not impact her upbringing much as her parents fulfilled their duties properly. She had said, "I had the most amazing upbringing ever. I am very lucky to have been brought up by such a forward-thinking, amazing person who taught me so much about life, growing up and about being an adult from the time that I was a child. But I totally get if it had gone even slightly wrong what it would have been like."
