Having spent about sixteen years of marital bliss with her hubby, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya has now become more like the daughter of the household, who is unconditionally loved and pampered by everyone. Moreover, apart from everyone else, Aishwarya seems to share a very special bond with her mom-in-law, Jaya Bachchan, who is both her best friend and confidante.
From the very first day since Aishwarya became a part of the Bachchan family, Jaya has always ensured that the former feels comfortable and loved and she does not feel left alone. With time, Jaya has firmed her bonding with Aishwarya and never skips a chance to heap praises on her. However, when it comes to Jaya Bachchan, she has a vastly different relationship with her bahu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan since from the very first day, she made it clear that she would never engage in small talk and politics behind Aishwarya’s back. Speaking about the same in an interview with Rediff, the veteran actress once mentioned:
“She is my buddy. If I don't like something about her, I tell her on her face. I don't do politics behind her back. If she disagrees with me, she expresses herself. Only difference is that I can be little more dramatic and she has to be more respectful. I am old, you know. That's all. We really enjoy sitting at home and talking rubbish. Just the two of us. She doesn't have much time, but whatever she does, we enjoy. I have a great relationship with her.”

For instance, in one of her Koffee With Karan interactions, Jaya had candidly praised her then-newly married bahu, Aishwarya for being a patient listener in the family who stands behind everyone else and never exerts her authority. “She is lovely. I love her. I have always loved her. I have never ever seen her push herself whenever we are all together. I like that quality of hers to stand behind. She is quiet. She listens and she is taking it all in. And another beautiful thing is that she has fitted in so well in the family. She knows who are our good friends."
