Janhvi’s sheer and pure love for saree is not unknown to the fashionistas and her latest one is a perfect blend of contemporary elegance and traditional charm, which reminded us of her mother, Sridevi. Even before this 22-year-old starlet made her debut in Bollywood, she made heads turn with her sartorial picks, be it comfortable kurtas, lehengas or sharara sets. Daughter of Boney Kapoor and Sridevi, Janhvi Kapoor’s wardrobe doesn’t have a dearth of oh-so-gorgeous ethnic looks. But what we love about Janhvi’s saree looks is that it reminds us of her late mother, Sridevi. For instance, at the 65th National Film Awards, Janhvi had donned her mother’s beautiful saree and looked as pretty as her. Sridevi had worn a pink and white kanjeevaram saree at actor, Ram Charan's wedding in 2013. Even though with some minor changes in the saree, Janhvi had proved that she is the reflection of her mother. While originally Sridevi had worn this saree with a sleeveless blouse and matching necklace and earrings, her daughter, Janhvi had opted for cropped sleeves blouse and kept her look simple with just a pair of jhumkas.
At the annual Umang Mumbai Police Show on January 19, 2020, Janhvi Kapoor’s scarlet red saree reminded us, yet again, of her mother, Sridevi. Wearing her favourite, Manish Malhotra, Janhvi opted for a head-to-toe red look with intricate embroidery and sequin work on her saree. She accentuated her look with a sleeveless blouse which had a plunging neckline and skinny beaded straps with zero jewellery, minimal beauty look and just-got-out-of-bed waves! Janhvi’s all red look reminded us of her mother, Sridevi, who opted for the same hue look for an award ceremony.
For the 2019 edition of the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards in Mumbai, Janhvi Kapoor had opted for another Manish Malhotra creation and had turned our heads over. Accentuating her deep pink, custom-made saree, Janhvi had skipped on earrings and instead worn a two-tiered silver necklace by Amrapali Jewels. Adding a subtle pop of colour to her saree, Janhvi had opted for a two-toned, pink and orange blouse and to complement it, she went for dewy makeup, nude lips and had her hair tied back in a French braid. A few days back, for Adwaita Nayar‘s wedding reception, Janhvi Kapoor, who’s no stranger to sultry Manish Malhotra drapes, had made us crush hard on her in lavender high-shine six-yard staple with sequin work all over it. Janhvi had paired it with a bralette-style blouse in the same violet tone. To accessorise her head-to-toe sequined look, Janhvi had picked diamond-encrusted chandelier earrings with a hint of rose gold and had decided to go for voluminous curls and subtle pink tones for her makeup.
Janhvi Kapoor’s love for saree was stamped when she had revealed, in an interview with Brides Today, "I want something that’s real and intimate and close to who I am. I don’t need anything big and fancy. I already know my wedding is going to be really traditional and will happen in Tirupati. I’m going to wear a Kanjeevaram zari sari and there’s going to be a full daawat after the wedding with all the South Indian food that I love... idli, sambhar, curd rice, and kheer."
In 2018, a few months after Sridevi’s demise, Janhvi Kapoor had graced her mother’s old dupatta and had worn it exactly like her. Janhvi had styled the beautiful rose printed pink dupatta with a solid white kurta, just like her mother. Like mother, like daughter, we say! It had surely touched our nostalgic chords right, and Janhvi continuing her mother’s legacy had left us all teary-eyed.
