Honey Singh had started gaining fame in Bollywood through his rap songs and gradually became 'Yo Yo Honey Singh'. However, even after gaining massive popularity, the singer had kept his personal life under the wraps. And in 2014, to the utter surprise of his fans, he had posted a picture with his wife, Shalini Singh, whom he had married in 2011.
However, after ten years of marital life, Honey Singh has landed himself in trouble as his wife, Shalini Singh, filed a complaint against him and brought some serious allegations against him. She has filed a case of domestic violence against him. The court has also issued a notice on the plea filed by the rapper's wife via Karanjawala and Co. under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.

In her plea for justice, Shalini Singh stated some unknown facts about the rapper, Honey Singh. She stated how her husband's behaviour had changed towards her. Her plea can be read as "That around the time of the marriage, the career of Honey Singh started to take off and he was popularly getting to be known as 'Yo Yo Honey Singh'. Honey Singh started getting many shows, songs, and other projects and he started to travel all across the world for work."
Shalini Singh also accused him of not leaving a single penny for her and giving all his earnings to his parents instead. The plea further added, "The payments from almost all his shows and his other work used to be paid in cash and Honey Singh never made the Applicant (Shalini Singh) privy to his finances and always gave each and every penny of his cash income to his father and mother respectively throughout his career."

Shalini Singh's plea further stated that Honey Singh was brash and disrespectful towards her, and she disclosed one incident from their honeymoon when the rapper had left her all alone in the hotel room only to return intoxicated. Narrating the incident, Shalini said, "Honey Singh went out of the Hotel room and did not come back for 10-12 hours and the Applicant having no idea about the new place that she was in, remained in the room anxious and waiting for him to come back. Honey Singh came back late at night and was extremely intoxicated."
Shalini further stated in her plea that the rapper was involved in casual sex and had multiple extramarital affairs. Henceforth, he had always kept his marital life under the cover. The plea filed through Karanjawala and Co. read as "In order to further his illicit relationships and sexual intents, Singh never disclosed about his marriage in the public." Shalini also stated incidents of being slapped and her hair being pulled by her husband, Honey Singh.

Shalini has demanded a compensation of Rs. 10 crores for domestic violence and the court has summoned Honey Singh on the next hearing.
