Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleThe music industry is mourning the loss of country legend Dolly Parton. For those unaware, she passed away at the age of 80. The unfortunate news was announced by her nephew, Brian Seaver, via a video on Instagram. In the video, he talked about how Dolly had been fighting health issues for quite some time before her death.
It is worth noting that Dolly’s death comes a year after her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 82. While alive, Dolly had opened up about how her faith got her through the tough time.
Dolly Parton reflected on her marriage to her husband, Carl Dean
During an interview with the Associated Press, Dolly Parton admitted that it was her faith that anchored her throughout her grief following the death of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean. She claimed that even though she knew Carl was dead, she believed she would get to see him again someday.
Dolly said that she saw Carl every day, both in her memories and in the things that they used to do together. While she understood that she would "kind of have to learn to kind of make new plans,” she still found it hard to do. In her words:
“I am a person of faith, and I truly believe that I’m going to see him again someday. And I see him every day in my memories and in my heart, and in all the things that we used to do and all the things that we’ve built together. You just kind of have to learn to kind of make new plans - but that’s the hardest part.”

Dolly and Carl tied the knot in 1966 and remained married for nearly 60 years. This is why the Jolene singer said that she could still “really feel his presence” even after Carl passed away. She said that she tried to go on with her life because she knew she had to. She revealed that Carl had been quite sick for some time before he took his last breath. However, when he died, Dolly confessed that a part of her was at peace since his suffering had reached an end. She stated:
“I really feel his presence. I just try to go on, because I know I have to. And he was ill for quite a while, and part of me was at peace that he was at peace and not suffering anymore. But that still doesn’t make up for the loss and the loneliness of it.”
About Dolly Parton’s death
In her final interview on August 21, 2026, just a few days before her death, Dolly admitted that her physical condition began declining when her beloved husband Carl passed away. Recalling that time, she claimed that she would often ignore her own health just to look after him.
Dolly mentioned having "female issues" for several months and also struggling with her weight. The country star admitted that she should have paid more attention to her health and revealed that she had been having "hard times" due to her ailments.

Now, speaking about the video posted by her nephew, Brian Seaver, to announce her death, he revealed he had been given the responsibility by the singer herself when she was alive. He said that their family and the team who have been entrusted with her legacy will make sure that Dolly’s spirit lives with them forever.
Brian also recalled his last call with Dolly, when she allegedly told him that she "wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because after a life of wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest." He ended the statement by saying that he wishes she rests in peace.
