Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited film, Jawan is breaking all the box office records, thanks to his splendid performance and the superb star cast. Though every character in the film played a significant role in the film, fans couldn’t stop praising Deepika Padukone’s cameo appearance in the film.
Ever since the film was released, there has been a lot of buzz about Deepika charging a hefty sum of Rs. 15 crores for her cameo appearance in the film. In an interview with The Week, the gorgeous actress revealed that she didn’t charge anything for her role in the Atlee directorial. In her words:
“I wanted to be a part of 83 because I wanted it to be an ode to women who stand behind their husbands’ glory. I watched my mother do it. This was my homage to wives who make sacrifices to support their husbands’ careers. Other than that, any special appearance for Shah Rukh Khan, I am there. Same with Rohit Shetty.”
Deepika was earlier seen with Shah Rukh Khan in the blockbuster hit, Pathaan, which crossed Rs. 1000 crore worldwide. Talking about her equation with Shah Rukh, Deepika said:
“We are each other's lucky charm. But honestly, we are beyond luck. We have a sense of ownership over each other... I am one of the few people he is vulnerable with. There is so much trust and respect, and I think that luck is just the cherry on the top.”
It was in 2007 when Deepika Padukone made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan’s film, Om Shanti Om. Later, the two reunited for a song in Billu. In 2013, Shah Rukh and Deepika starred together in Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express, which was again a blockbuster hit. The two were also seen together in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year.
Talking about Deepika Padukone’s upcoming projects, the actress will be seen in Fighter, alongside Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor. Deepika will also be seen in Kalki opposite South sensation, Prabhas and in the Hindi remake of The Intern, opposite Amitabh Bachchan.
