Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter, Vivienne, has approached the court to legally remove 'Pitt' from her last name. According to a report by PEOPLE, the 18-year-old has filed the petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court requesting that her legal name be changed from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.
As per the court documents obtained by the news outlet, the reason for the name change has been listed as "personal". Following the filing, a hearing on Vivienne's petition has been scheduled for November 2, 2026 (ET). The filing has come as a sign of the children's relationship with their father, Brad Pitt. For the unversed, the name change has come after the divorce of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, pointing to the strained relationship between the actor and his children.
The filing marks the latest indication that Vivienne has distanced herself from the Pitt surname. However, it's not the first time she has done so. According to reports, it was in May 2024, when Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for Broadway's The Outsiders, which she helped produce alongside her mother. Additionally, Vivienne is not the only child of Brad and Angelina Jolie who has decided to part ways with their father's last name.

Vivienne Jolie is the youngest daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. She made her film debut as the young 'Princess Aurora' in the 2014 film Maleficent alongside her mother, Angelina and recently worked as a producer's assistant on the Broadway musical The Outsiders. She is the twin sister of Knox Leon and recently celebrated her 18th birthday. While Angelina mostly keeps her children away from the limelight, Vivienne recently made a red carpet appearance during Tony Awards.
Vivienne is not the only one who has dropped the Pitt surname. According to reports, out of Angeline Jolie and Brad Pitt's six children, Zahara is seeking to legally change her name to Zahara Marley Jolie. Meanwhile, Maddox has also requested to become Maddox Chivan Jolie. In 2024, Shiloh filed to drop Pitt from her name and change it to Shiloh Jolie, and her petition was granted in 2024.
On the other hand, Zahara and Maddox's petitions remain pending, with Zahara's hearing scheduled for September 28, 2026 (ET) and Maddox's scheduled for September 14, 2026 (ET), according to previous court documents obtained by PEOPLE. Previously, a source close to Brad Pitt spoke with the news outlet and said:
"It’s sad to see someone repeatedly publicise their successful alienation of their children from the other parent."
Vivienne was born alongside her twin brother, Knox, in July 2008 and is Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's youngest of the six children. Angelina recently celebrated her children's 18th birthday, and a source close to the actress even shared that she is excited for the next chapter in her life now that all her children are adults.
